Replaced the rubber coupling on the rear prop just now.. will see if it helps at all with play. Old one was knackered nevertheless.

Had it up in the air to replace an exhaust mount. While it was up there, I checked the fuel sediment/water trap. Nothing at all came out of the little tap, so I took it off to find it almost full of congealed orange gunk. Looks like no one has checked it since the 1990s!

Also tried to do the a-frame ball joint, but the axle nut isn't moving. It will probably have to be cut off.

D2 Failed MOT on ball joint and indicator wrong colour (?) which I'm pretty happy with.
An advisory was the rust on the rear of the chassis.
Will do the usual clean and Lanoguard, but I'm thinking it might be an idea to learn how to weld!

Always a good piece of kit to have with any landrover... plus some sheets of steel.

Getting into landrovers has taught me how to be a better welder and patcher

The Lord giveth, then he taketh it away again.... on a Sunday

You fix one issue, then the D2 throws another right back at you.... Today is a clunky Watts linkage. Genuine is ruddy expensive, and I hear the Britpart ones last about 12 months... Whats the options available ? I have a 10 tonne press, so will look at just the bushes....

Repaired the rotten section on offside wheel arch.. started on the nearside.

Also started a bit of a general front end tidy up - drying out headlamps and replacing breathers, new fog lights etc.

Also going to have the winch fairlead plate, winch tray and support arms (behind the grille) power-coated - before finishing the undersealing (Dinitrol System)

Hi, have you done radius arm bushes on yours & if so was the 10 tonne press able to push the bushes out ? My nephew has a 10T press & as I've had the bushes for 6 months it would be handy to know for when I get round to doing them, cheers.

Press wasnt able to push out the bushes on my lads Defender... so they were burnt out, and hammered with a cold chisel ground with a hooked lip on it. Used the press to put the new ones in though.

MOT passed with one advisory that according to another independent doesn't exist hmm...

Full service mystery completed, two new rear Pirelli scorpions fitted with all stupid two piece wheel nuts replaced. I had some swelled nuts ha ha MAF and MAP sensor clean completed and all mechanically checked again with nothing to note.

5 years of owning the TDV6 and the old stick is going well.

D2 Alternator has been intermittent recently (according to the voltmeter hanging of the dash - fitted by previous owner, probably due to alternator fault) so I've got a solar panel plugged in permanently. Seems to be working ok so far!
Is it massive hassle to replace? (the alternator not the solar panel)
Garages want £500 so I'm guessing it's not an insignificant piece of work.
