Today, nothing... had a lot of work lined up, but I had to get recovered from Stoke, as the crankshaft pulley on my BMW came apart on starting. Looks like the rest of my day is BMW related.

Is it the 2 litre M47 engine like in the FL1's ?

Yes mate. Got all the bits, but need a short reach 22mm impact socket, or a bmw pulley tool to get the fecking thing off. It's 400nm... FFFTight

On the bright side, I fitted the props back on the disco before it was too dark. She's moving again.

You MUST use the holding tool with breaker bar & NOT a nut gun as it can damage/snap the crank I believe:eek:. Do a search in the Freelander section there's advice in there about changing that damper.

Cheers Andy, never thought about looking there. Been on the BMW forums ..... not sure an impact can turn out 250nm, which I think the cranks rated at. .... Going over to Ashbourne tomorrow, so will slide down to Burton, where there's an Ebay seller knocking them out for under £30

Job done, came off easily with the correct tool. Doesn't look as easy on a transverse engine in a Freelander though.

Yeah as it wasn't designed to go in the wrong way most things are a pain especially the thermostat & even the air filter is a pain getting the cover back on.
Glad you've got it sorted, now back to the D2:).

Not wanting to buy it, as I already have one.
Just interested in why you are getting rid of it.
Do you no longer own a Landy?

hi mate

still have the disco (for now at least)

i have eyes on some rather pricey golf clubs so I’m selling a few things that rank below the golf clubs ... it’s a great piece of kit but I need the cash for something else is the summary

Well had to row my lads recently purchased Disco to my house, he rang me saying it's dumped it's oil everywhere, sure enough it had ,on closer inspection the turbo has sized up previous owners having an oil leak repaired with silicon blocking the oil feed ,great more work for me

Well, if the Disco breaks down and you no longer have your Foxwell to find out why, you will at least be able to beat the offending vehicle up with your new clubs as per Basil Fawlty and his Morris 1100!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D
