Washed and waxed it and with the above talk of cdl I had a look... I'm on a 03 so persumed I wouldn't have it but the threaded spigot with flat edges at the bottom between the 3 bolts is there! WINNER!
Great news, do you know what no. your transfer box start with ?
It might be handy to start a thread or list of t/box's no's with the threaded spigot, if the lever/mechanism isn't fitted, as a guide for owners to investigate further.

If you have the diff lock stud on your unit you will only require the linkage parts, to determine this you will need to find the transfer case serial number and check it starts with either 41D, 42D or 68D. If it starts 61D, 62D, 69D or 70D then you will need the diff lock parts to go in the transfer case

That fits with mine as I have the threaded spigot & mine starts 41D.
I wonder if anyone has used the actuator kit & could give some feedback ?
 
I know someone with it and yea its good. Obviously the leaver will be ultimately more reliable but his has been on a few years and gets used all the time.

Since finding my spigot yesterday I've tracked the guy down that makes them on d2bc (He doesn't use it anymore) then found his ebay and messaged him on there. He got straight back to me and said he will list some very soon
 
Fitted new transmission brake shoes & rear prop rubber donut.
S@#%part shoe retainers are to big to go through the back plate:mad: so I used the old ones as they were OK. Rubber donut was perished & very flexible compared to the new one.

I only just changed that front left hub a few weeks back ‍♂️♂️ Any pointers ?
 
Figured I'd tackle my dieing rear uj before it became more of a problem. Dropped the prop( super easy with the prop nut tool ) the front uj is fine as I thought but the rear is very stiff. After much wailing on the uj with a big hammer and drift it didn't even move a mm. It's now soaking in wd40 ready for more hammer action tomorrow. Failing that it'll be out with the grinder. Its all fun and games.
 
Ended up letting the wd40 do its stuff for 2 days due to family taking up all my time. Rear uj is now replaced and greased. Good I thought. Then I discovered a new problem. 1 of the captive bolts at the front end of the rear prop has threaded. Any one know how easy it is to replace the captive bolts?
 
Could only unlock the disco by the drivers side door then had to hold the key up against the reciever in the headlining to turn off imobiliser, this was fine at first but last week nearly the button would not unlock the immobiliser and was out with the missus! So ordered up new reciever when i got home! Just fitted today and the disco now unlocks on the button from about 10m away!
Managed to replace it by just lowering the roof lining where it meets the rear sunroof. Was really fiddly and the mini socket ratchet was perfect for undoing the two small bolts.

So I've spent the afternoon replacing the gearbox, clutch, dual mass flywheel and spigot Bush on my discovery 2!! What a pain in the arse that was!!! Still got it all done in 4 hours and my god its so good to have gears that change without a crunch I didn't expect to see my spigot Bush smashed into a few pieces though! And the free play in my old gearbox input Shaft was ridiculous and the dual mass had quite a bit of free play!!! I was

I've been drilling & retapping the three broken ex. studs & the air con compressor bolt that snapped on strip down:mad:. Also sealed that threaded core plug in the head that's hidden behind the manifold, it's a good place to look if you have a leak you can't find. As you can see in the pic. it doesn't take long to start dripping after being cleaned ! My Son & I did his TD5 last year so I can see it being a common problem. Also replaced the small hose between the oil cooler & metal pipe, another ball ache as you have to unbolt the metal pipe from the bell housing. With manifold skimmed a coat of heat resistant paint (inc. turbo) & it all went back together swimmingly, just waiting on compressor bolt & temp. sensor housing gasket (only ordered them last Sunday & they still haven't arrived!)

Finally got round to refitting rear hubs, calipers (took some persuasion and WD40 to get the old bolts wound back in), bled the brakes. Just need to go around all the bolts and torque them up then the wheels can go on and hopefully that's it. Hope I don't forget to put the diff oil in though.

Packed up to watch the League Cup, wished I'd carried on it was like watching paint dry!
