does seem to be the way of the manufacture to say we think the main problem in the car is the driver
can control a rangie by ur smart phone already
did watch a women trying to park her rangie in asda a while back, had sensors but by christ did she make a meal of it
know it takes a few goes with it being a large motor but she kept keeping the wheel on the wrong lock , i walked away in the end , but maybe she just bought the car and was getting use to it
trouble is with all this technology it's when it goes all tits up , or great for the hackers with autodrive

But using your phone while you're driving is against the law. Or is sitting in the passenger's seat letting your phone do the driving a way around that inconvenience?

as u mention about phones , something has to be done, increasing fines etc hasn't worked
car manuafacturers could do something , maybe if it detects a signal. u have to put ur phone in a holder or the car won't start , if u try and take the phone out of its holder a warning comes up with so many seconds to replace it , could send a warning to the police or the car will reduce in power
don't really know what the solution is but imagine the car brains could somehow design a system to prevent the tragic accident happening the other day , along with i imagine not the first nor sadly the last
how about making hands free law for a start ,or maybe a months ban for the first offence
but there again sat navs are also a distraction, kids screaming in the car the list goes on and on
finally though is all down to the driver to take responsible decisions

I'm unable to settle if something on the car isn't right. Even if it's not fixed I'm happier if the problem is identified and parts can start to be looked for. Besides, it's good for keeping the dampness down when it's raining as it normally does and you're dumping wet coats in it.
i do agree it would bug me as well, always better to get things fixed as they occur and not when they seriously throw a wobbly

The mention of robotic parking/driving does nothing for me, my other car is a reborn landie in the disguise of a citron berlingo. I find the disco an easier car to park in multi also much safer in country lanes where deference is shown by most except the odd tractor. The wonder of a land rover they can be rebuilt, don't know about the modern marques, time will tell, if you can afford the parts.
As for snow. A good drift will stop ALL dead, been there having driven too fast and landed 12" above the tarmac, then have to mine under to clear packed snow.

i'm really pleased this hasnt got the parking control, always had the attitude if u can't park it ur self don't drive it
oh yes the good fun of a slide in a land rover, does wake u up rather sharpish
one of my best memory of a land rover was i had a diesel 88 , out off road with my late wife, she was driving , then i guy appeared from knowhere with his dog, at that time my wife drove threw a massive puddle, the red type , it went all over him , we then saw as the water went away with him and his dog dripping from head to toe, the water went over the roof of the landy , i shouted at the wife, go,go go, can still hear the guy screaming abuse
wouldn't have been amused but i was only in my twenties and then everything is funny

I bought mine a new battery.
The old one was getting a little slow at times and not always keeping the charge, that time of year.. Replaced in the short term with one I got at LZ12, ( courtesy of @listerdiesel ) although it was a little small for the D2 TD5.
So had a look found the Powerline C31 1000 from tayna. Good price and delivered in 24 hours. Only issue with this one is the battery tray is a little tight. It appears the original had the bottom stepped in slightly. But it clamped down OK.

am holding off at the moment , the winter will be a good test for it, i like the varta batteries ,
well fitted the locking wheel nuts
fitted a cruise control module
new pre tensioner fitted, still have the srs light on , think i've got two bad side and curtain airbags
put better interior leds in , ines without the metal casing
couldn't get the side door trim on , bought new clips but they are so tight to clip together
think i will have to try and source some better made ones , they were the small yellow clips that are supposed to clip in the white holder , got them off ebay so imagine a cheap copy

Shuda kept your gob shutI did nothing to ours, it's only done 5 miles since being fixed last time, so have 5 more miles of care free motoring before I have to do some work on it

Ahh that's wot it is You have a proper truck now so you can give the kids their tent peg mallet back now
lol, used it to try and knock the door trim on so i didn't mark it, but the clips were rubbish
think they were really bad copies, as even when i took the two parts in my hand they still wouldn't clip together
still always good for knocking in rubber nails
