So apologies out of the way right at the start as there is probably already some advice on this but that said... I can't find any.

I have a 200tdi engined 90 (1993). I have a safari snorkel on the side that I just fitted but what does the top grill do? I'm almost certain it's for the heater but do I need to fill it or move it? I don't intend to go bonnet deep in water but accidents do happen and if I filled it with water would it cause damage? Obviously a small amount of water wouldn't harm her because it must rain into that grill. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks.

it stops leaves and **** getting down to yer air filter.

or do you mean the wingtop grill that does the same for the heater matrix?

Yeah it's your intake for the heater, you dont need to do anything with it, getting water in there wont do any damage.

If you do get a large amount of water in there there is a drain on the bottom to release it.

yer thats the heater intake. excess water can bugger up the heater but i usually find i just end up with steam comin out the vents and i hav a portable sauna!! :D

Do you think leaving the drain plug out will be easier?

it has a lil rubber style valve jobby possibly. wouldnt worry about it

If it has one I'll bet it's like you said. The same as on the bottom of the air filter housing. Now I just thought that, should I fill the drainage thing in on the air filter? I wasn't going to but just a thought.
