Hi
I do not agree with the thread that the tdci ford puma engine is ****e.
I have had mine for 15 years, it has got well over 100,000 miles on the clock.
hard as nails !

Hi,
Had mine from new , change oil & filter every year no problems.
I am a mechanic by trade and there is no need to call them ****e from what I can see.
But you will always get someone who looks on the black side.

Hi,
That video the worst defender engine sounds like they are pushing B M W engines.
If you remap an engine & it is getting too much fuel yes it will wreck the engine
I know from experience , I have had 3 wagon engines blow up through remaps
against my advice.
Defenders are no different

100,000 in 15 years is not really proof that it is a good engine, it is proof that if it is not used much it will keep running. That is an average of 6,600 miles a year. I do about 30,000 miles a year in my 200tdi and at the point I changed the engine due to a fire, not due to any fault of the engine, it had done 385k in 29 years. I plan a light rebuild of the engine and am then putting it in my station wagon project so it will live on.

£40,000!
You think that is cheap?
It must have been if you click to show it relisted it is now 47 800 , think for anyone buying it there are a lot of questions, was it ever registered in France,? where there French CT's on it? and if used in a cold climate and the roads where salted it maybe good to check chassis very well for signs of corrosion, it may have just been used on private roads?
The other thing is if you start using it its value will drop like a stone
, really just idea as a collectors car
