Grrrrrr

Most ECU controlled electric fans don't kick in til 105° or so. So long as the needle doesn't climb, I'd give it a damned good ignoring.
Oddly enough I might modify the aircon fans to kick in at 95.

Only poorly maintained diesels die of gasket failure and cracked noggins...![]()
Sounds like my rr then22mpg or 7mpg at full chat![]()
That is perfectly normal, the max operating temperature is 105C.Not convinced my viscous is as efficient as it should be. Or maybe the radiator. Although the needle doesn't move my Engine Guard informs me the head temperature is creeping up over 95C on long steep hills.
Nonsense, the max normal operating temperature is 105C, I use electric cooling and the fans come on around 100C.If you go above 95 at the head on a doozle you wont ignore it for long, Itl give you no choice
The aircon fans on later models kick in from the third sensor at about 110CI don't think so. That M51 head is its weak point. That's why later models pull in the aircon fans as well. That's on top of the Land Rover rad which is a thicker core than the aftermarket ones. Most of the time it is fine but work it hard all the time and that head cracks, especially if you put a tuning box on it to throw more fuel in.
Not the oil guzzling one I had from neew. The bmw straight 6 petrol was a great engine!
Now the bmw v8 petrol .. hmm!!
Kicking in at 95C, they will be running far too often.Oddly enough I might modify the aircon fans to kick in at 95.
from my experience with the viscous on the v8.. when it started to fail, the average running temp while driving clicked up a degree or 2. swapped the viscous and it dropped back down againThat is perfectly normal, the max operating temperature is 105C.
what temp is the thermostat fully open at? i'd go a couple of degrees or so above thatKicking in at 95C, they will be running far too often.
80C from memory, the fans would run all the time set to that temperature even when RAM air made them unneccesary.what temp is the thermostat fully open at? i'd go a couple of degrees or so above that
Not nonsense. I prefer incremental cooling.105 degrees, if he is happy with that so be it, personally i would not be. The engine should run in the 85 to 95 degree range for long life.
I shouldn’t be allowed one. The things I’ve done to P38s would be pure sacrilege on one of themI knowI fu"king want one as well

I do agree with thatNot nonsense. I prefer incremental cooling.
Still got a tickle in the throat from the midget gems I found in the pocket. I’m sure they weren’t all black to begin withIndeed. How's the hair-shirt? Still itching?
