Treated the old girl to a complete new set of turbo pipe hoses as the old ones were getting a bit on the thin side. The new ones seem to have a bit of meat to them. :)
Oooops guess who didn't tighten the hose to the turbo properly  Went to supermarket at teatime and it blew off. had an audience in car park as I reattached and tightened up really really tight. You could hear the mumbles Another Land Rover broken down again whispered about:(

I messed about today with the bonnet locks. One of the cables was not working smoothly so I flushed then out with wd40 and pumped some ptfe grease in them. I found this issue because I replaced the bonnet release in the cabin. An original LR part yet the slots in which the cables sit are not tight enough and the pop out. The crappy cable popped out each time I opened the bonnet.

That looks a little serious?

It's not bad. Been removing the surface rust from the calipers and backplates-need to paint/underseal the rest now. Also need to change the temp sensor-been using my phone and torque lite to show engine temp for the last two years! Need to grow a pair and remove the battery!!
If the sensor is giving the correct reading to your phone then there's nowt up with it?

Is the infotainment module replaceable for one from a higher spec car?
Mines the basic one with no dual screen and basic logic 7 sound.
Not fussed about the screen but wouldn't mind listening to some better tunes now there's no proper engine to listen to

Doesn't yours have the iPod connect thing in centre cubby box ?

Unfortunately it's a petrol-only way I can see to get at it is to move the alternator. Tried moving the air con compressor but not enough room. Sensor is between alternator and air con pump-just underneath the accelerator cables.

Then I'm not sure what the problem is. theres only the 1 temp sensor, if your phone is showing the correct/accurate temp then the sensor must be OK
what isnt working?

On the diesel, there is a sensor for the gauge and another for the ECU, is there really only one on the V8?
If the alternator has to come off, then disconnecting the battery is a must. I have never had a problem with disconnecting the battery or putting it back.
If there is only one sensor and the reading is correct on your phone, then a problem with the gauge itself is possible.

It's got 4 wires coming from it-two sensors in the same unit. One sensor is for the gauge the other for engine management. The OBD output takes it from the engine management one.
