I used white lithium grease cos I've got a big pot of it:D.
My plan is to whip them out every 6mths or so and clean/regrease to prevent the ballache of them seizing in again.
The last ones on mine were in there for 20 years, the swivels are done so I expect the new ones to be there for 20 years which will see me out.

You are saying the warning lights do not work? Does the clock light come on and the back light for the main light switch?

I'm not saying that at all. Everything on the instrument cluster works as it should aside from the whole thing illuminating. All of the buttons on the dash work, hazard lights, ride height, as well as the clock, but none of the lights on the switches work except for the 4 orange lights for the ride height indicator.

Burn it mate.
it's starting to look that way but I really don't want to.

Started applying the best accessory you'll ever find on a Landy product. Been a long while since mud was featured on this old bus.

OK, so if it's only the illumination, You may well be aware of all this but no harm in going over it. If if the clock lights but not the instrument cluster, then it's controlled from the BECM, the dimmer circuit switch on the indicator stalk for example could shut the lights down. Equally it could be a bad earth. I have not yet fully traced the earth path.

If the clock illumination works and can be dimmed that rules out the BECM, then there are 3 possibilities, an earth problem, the earth point is behind the right hind kick panel in the front foot well, a broken track in the instrument panel, or a break at splice S210. I would connect an earth wire to pin 7 or 17 of the instrument panel connector if the earth point in the footwell is OK.

Filled her up with fuel for a trip of around 300mi with a trailer tomorrow, on my way home from the pumps I got a good figure for a 2.2 ton V8 RR

I'm sure it'll drop to around 14mpg. 290mi from a fill tank of petrol and 150mi from 75litres of LPG.

so 440'ish mi of range hopefully it'll do it without having to top it off..

XJ40 on the trailer to be sold to a bloke up norf £190 on fuel well spent. :)

Mine drops to 8-11mpg towing a fully laden cattle trailer (3.5) around farm lanes, however on the open road it gets to around 15mpg..

I'm expecting my trailer (1 ton) with my XJ40 on it (1.8 ton) so around 2.8 ton give or take to get 14-16 on the motorway at 55'ish.

Computer on Otto doesn't appear to work - don't know if it is switched off in the system or something duff in the supply side. But judging by fill ups we did and distances he was nudging 20mpg, mostly gently driven but variable running, with the blow gasket making him a 3 litre V6. Looking forward to seeing what he does all working but the flu jab today has wiped us out for the day. Hope for more productive times tomorrow.
