Had a friends DSE in today o fix a leak with the Filter covers, and bastard thing tried to suffocate me lying face up along drivers seat with head in footwell while she soaked the car with water. I Slid too far down into footwell, chest wedged under steering wheel so couldn't breathe or pull myself out!
Managed to get enough air into for one good shout she just laughed! bloody wimmin!. By the time she grabbed my ankles and hauled me out my life was starting to flash before my eyes.

These P38's are lethal I tell ya...

Just insured it for another year. My current insurer matched the lowest quote I got on the comparison sites, so happy enough. Still weird that Direct Line won't even quote for a P38 though.
 
They wouldn’t quote me either. Guessed it’s one of those ‘if you have to ask you can’t afford it’ quotes or they don’t like mods
 
I used to be with direct line for the p38, was with them for years changed a couple of years ago when i went with a classic policy
direct line were not cheap in the end which is why i changed.
 
Speaking of seats, do I remember reading on here somewhere that you can actually remove the leather cover on the seat? I have a split on the side of mine and it would be far easier to repair if I could get it off.
 
My driver's seat has a small split in the side too, where people have slid their backside down off the seat, i didn't know you could repair it? Thought filler was the only option

If you can take the cover off, I was thinking a small piece of leather inside stuck with leather glue then glue the two sides of the split to that. Edges should meet up cleanly and should be well nigh invisible.

They can be removed as you take them of to fix the heated seat elements, take the seat out turn it upside down and you should see a load of hog rings that you remove with pliers then peel back the cover.
 
First proper job on the new P38 was a simple change of the handbrake leather gator.
Went well, next job is the gearstick gator. Will get that done for the morning - although I did discover the rubber gearstick gator is also broken, so eBay calls tonight.

After a couple of weeks of Range Rover ownership I feel I already understand how the process works - every day is a maintenance task.
Looking forward to more of it.

I need to do the hand brake gaiter too.
If i get round to the seat repair, I'll probably renew the heater element for one that gets warmer too, plus see what can be done to rejuvenate the shape
