I swopped out the ignition swith on mine to eliminate an intermitent no turn over of the engine.. have concluded its the starter solinoid sooooo went for a drive to meet.up with my.mate whos m62 engine we rebuilt i gave him a master class in paint correction and detailing...he is now hooked lol

Just listed my diesel engine pump timing tools here and on the Bay.
(Can't see where on a V8 I can stick 'em now, so not much use to me...)

You can use it under the bonnet to improve a V8 :p You just pull it out and stick the doozle in :D

Don't know what that is but it doesn't work as a link, can't copy, and if I touch it tries to ring it as a phone number then my phone crashes :confused::eek:

It is MOT time again for my P38. The fourth one in my ownership and another pass first time. Good to have a decent mooch underneath on a proper hoist, there are a few areas that would benefit from a clean and Waxoyling before the surface rust gets any worse. Celebrated our 'ticket' by getting the caravan out of storage on the same day.
 
Just replaced rear discs and pads on my P38,I had to drill out both disc retaining screws which only took minutes with a new drill bit, Front ones are next on the list.
 
Few sharp clouts with a large hammer before hand usually helps to break it free a little. Works on adjustable spanners too.
Then punch if she won't come. Some people just put wheels back on without new one but I wouldn't do that they are pennies.
 
Beat the rear calipers over the head with my pressure bleeder for the third time today and finally managed to get good pressure on the pedal.:):)
I had replaced both rear calipers on Thursday but had trouble getting the last air out of the system, and of course being me I found I had ordered the wrong calipers, metric instead of imperial, as luck would have it I did have a few metric fittings kicking around but soon found that my flare tool wasn't up to the job on the existing steel (bundy ?) tube so had to then make up new copper alloy rear brake lines.:(:(.
One good thing though, all threads came apart with no trouble, just to be sure for the future everything went back together with a smear of copper coat.
 
Mot time again passed with flying colours. Not even oil leak advisory ( and yes there is oil in it). Italian tune up beforehand and passed emissions with flying colours as well. Happy bunny.

So whilst in overalls decided to totally strip my other engine that went fubar. Few pics on what I found.

Cheepo handheld impact driver works for me every time. Beat it to death and out..
Tried that but the previous owner had chewed the screw heads up , cant be sure whether he managed to get them out and put them back in (w*%ker) or gave up when he couldn't get them out
