Thanks for the quick replies guys. Was driving along happily at 70mph. On cruise control, went to change to huuuman control , fault pinged up "fuel injection system" , cruise control wouldn't disengage, headed to had shoulder by which time a couple of red lights came up on lower left dash pan . Didn't see which as too busy stopping safely. Switched all off.tried to restart and she turned over but wouldn't fire. Only tried once as didn't want to make things worse. Recovery is taking her to storage until Monday. I meanwhile have joined the great unwashed on a train !
The Golden Girl is diesel.
 
Cleaning the inside after fitting the new ignition lock, adjusted the interior mirror and the fecking rotton shagnasty b astarding forkin snotgobbling bleedin thing bust away from the screen.:mad::mad::mad::(:(:(:mad::mad::mad:
As luck would have it I had a genuine mirror fixing adhesive pad in stock so cleaned everything up with a razor blade and acetone and stuck the mounting block back on. Have left it to fester overnight before I hang the weight of the mirror back on it. Wonder how long that will last.
Anyone used superglue for this? did it work?

Watch the blood pressure mate. The pad is the best option.

Sorry only just read this but depending on what the symptoms are as in is it cranking but not starting I would be looking at one of the 3 fuel pumps but diagnostics is the key as you know and hopefully you are back home safely by now.

It might be the special additive that the Scottish government add to your fuel that doesn’t mix with English diesel to discourage anyone thinking of defecting to the south, why anyone would want to do that though ...:)
 
I cleaned my maf to see I've it helps with the rough running and checked the plugs the plugs were good

No stinky ninglish diesel in my baby. Filled her up before I left and still over a quarter of a tank when she decded to say she wasnt playing any more. Thankfully it happened on the way back, after I had delivered the doggie to her forever home, so was only an hour (by car) from home. There's a thread kindly started by myfirst now running 're this, so will take all info on board and that way might have an idea what I'm talking about, with Colin or James , on Monday.

Had a frustrating few hours trying to get the front passenger door lock to actuate on the central locking, trouble being that there seems to be something causing some friction in the mechanism, but once it operates it is fine for a while, then sticks again. Tried a couple of actuating motors, lubing up moving parts etc, no difference. Think I shall have to take the lock out tomorrow and have a look at that.

So while faffing about with that, happened to notice a flat tyre on the front of my 90, wheel off no sign of a nail or anything, put some pressure in and had a look with a bubbly mix, air weeping out around the rim.
While doing this got a greasy hand off the inside of the wheel, now found the seals I fitted when I changed the swivel ball/bearings 2 years ago look like it's shot, that'll be new brake pads as well then.:mad::mad:

Rather my little niggles than gold rovers though. Good luck with that one.
 
Finished fitting the 4 rear braided hoses amd painted calipers black. Just the fronts to do.
