I spent the day removing the engine
It's got a noise which I think is cam related and on top of that I think the head gasket is starting to go
So thought it time for a rebuild

Finally finished replacing head gaskets, water pump, hoses and thermostat, Radiator and breather pipes, also actually re-built the EAS valve block as well....all this done in gales, hail stones, thunder and lightning and torrential rain......

Service the gearbox and replace brake pads next week end......:D

Went to devils pit in Bedfordshire as usual the old girl got through things that looked impossible for such a huge lump but the day ended in a loud bang and the total loss of her rear diff. As always though old faithful got me home she is now all clean and put away until I can replace the diff and go play again

Yesterday was taken to lunch at Marco Pierre White's place. It may be 14 years old but it still didn't look out of place in the car park.

Food was 'not bad' but I was glad I wasn't picking up the bill.

Found out the reason my p38 wouldn't start was I 40amp fuse on the starter...who would have thought an electrical problem that the car doesn't throw a fault code up for 😉

monday another classic job to do
both front bumper corner pieces loose so two small 90 degree brackets and bit of black paint done the job
also got two drivers door keys cut
and polished the old girl again
and it ran sweet for first time in ages
wife impressed job done

Today It was my turn to get the dreaded battery drain problem. Amp tested and 0.05amp whilst "asleep" so maybe just needs new battery :)

Thanks for the advice. Any idea what could be draining it? Pulled fuse 1 under my driver seat and it went way down to as you've said 0.03 that fuse controls things like radio and clock.

No idea, it's a matter of tracking the problem down. Unlikely to be the clock but there have been a number of problems with damp radios recently.

Unplugged my radio... Charged the battery fully .... Turned key started like a new car.. Ran for a few minutes I turned her off... Just been back 6.5 hours later and yep she fired first turn. Before I unplugged the radio it wouldnt start after being taken for a 15mile round trip! So radio is the issue. You mentioned damp radio?
