it is :eek:only fetch £250 scrap + the headgaskets fail worse than a p38:amen:

They only fail if you let them overheat. We had a Rover 25 in the college workshop that came in failed headgasket, we repaired it and used it for a racing. It lasted 2 seasons before the water pump gave up on life and took out the head (warped so badly you could see it with the naked eye).

I was in the process of ordering a brand new ZS when they went bust, got offered a pre made one same spec but didn't like the colour they offered, regret that decision now.

They don't have much retail value so were never an investment, but I do like the ZS, the look so much nicer. But heyho, you can't change the past. IIRC, they still rust like a trooper, so maybe you're better off without one.

So now I am learning why Grit Valve wasn't a huge fan of buying a battery from batterymegastores. As mine died on me, I've had to get them to collect it and run tests (wouldn't take charge, even on a battery booster), before they'll send a new one. They probably got it yesterday. Doubt I'll have a new battery before mid week. In that time I have to tart about with the old weak battery that I removed because it was old and weak. HUZZAR for starting problems and paranoia. :(

Next time I will pay the extra and buy one locally.

my so called crap underpowered battery fire's up the old girl every time its got through its first winter!and any Sign of trouble its going back to halfruads , I can find one in almost every town , thing is I know how they test the battery and there is no way there little tester lie's ;);)

Ps happy waiting :(

happy driving... dont crash, the news headlines would read" man drowned in wine after hitting a wall in a 4x4
Well, the old bus made it to Dieppe through storms and flooded roads without incident, only just made the ferry, took 8 hours instead of the usual 5.5. Weather here in Sussex is not a lot better than home in France, fog, wind & rain. No chance of going sailing at the moment:(
Just got to organise getting my new tyres fitted next week before we go home.
Off to Bletchly Park National Computer Museum to donate some kit tomorrow so a few more miles in the P38:)

MOT Time Great news straight through no worries celebrated with trip to the coast for the day on Wednesday sunny all day, so the old girl's good for another year. hopefully.:):):):) fingers crossed. and now summers over I can get it ready for the winter!:)

Washed it, then took the SWMBO up the street to get some shopping & the offside rear brake calliper seized on. Had to take the calliper off its mount and exercise the piston. Cleaned everything of old brake dust & reassembled and all is well now.

There is no big chain automotive place round here, the small place we have could order one in, but it'd still involve waiting for a replacement, just no as long to wait. I am wasting money with this current battery because if I don't go for a spin once a day the battery will go flat. But at least I retained it, otherwise I'd have to take time off work.

Heater matrix orings simple enough , things went bad from the start my newly purchased 450mm pz2 screwdriver tip sheared  that got my bum twitching !
So out with the 3/8 extension and a pozy bit on the end job done, phew , I also changed the screw for a m5 bolt , an alen bolt would of been easyer as there is not much room for a socket , lucky I had narrow ones :)

I found the hardest thing was replacing the heater trunking back in its locations, its a very supple plastic managed it in the end .
I used my dremel with a saw disk to cut the plastic panel for access , but I did notice that once you have removed the switch panel and heater control , that you could infact remove the plastic shroud that holds the heater controls and switch panel, if your willing to remove some of the glove box.

But like others I went for the easy option so pleased its done :D

Tomorrow I will be fixing the chap who can't get his viscous fan off his p38 in guilford ;)

Yeah I knew I was being too hopeful, it's just that in the past they have delivered stuff in less than 24 hrs, which is cracking service. She's SORN'd anyway at the moment so no rush.

I took her up to a MRT training event yesterday, she handled the conditions well (lots of rough lanes through the Moors, steep hills, ****ty ground). Then today I decided to go up to Whitby and was greeted by flooded roads and much heavy rain. That nicely cleaned all of the crap off from the day before.

I just want my good battery back, I can't enjoy things as much as I liked because I constantly fear the battery failing. Come on batterymegastore, give me an update, either you fixed the **** one or send a new one. I am happy to lose the deposit if it means I get a battery. :(
