Twenty five quid for four valves on ebay, I can get them for a dollar each from AliBaba but I'd need to buy 200. Tempted, actually, and just ebay sets of four at twenty quid each.

I'm quite sure much of what you see in eBay never sells, it's just there to boost prices and make things look a good price elsewhere. If it's on eBay or must be a good price :rolleyes:

So you swap the pipes between them and the pump?

Don't use T pieces and beware the cheap kits on the bay. You need straight connectors and Schrader valves connected to a stub of 6mm airline. 4 required, one for each line that goes to the the bag. Cable tie them to sonething handy under the bonnet.

When pumping them up put 50psi in each and then go round each in turn adding another 5psi until she's up. Then get her to the right height. It can be a little tricky as the weight transfers around the low corner tends to dip.
 
Temperature sender so always running comd? Or#4 acting up and running on default values? Or just a lot of stop / start driving recently?
It looks like my #1 is leaking. Need to order an injector socket to try and nip it back up though. Hopefully that is at least partly down to why I ain't getting the numbers I'd expect to see. It absolutely stunk of derv yesterday after getting the wife from work. But beyond a wet injector, I aren't seeing any puddles of fuel.
 
No1 probably not leaking (atomises the fuel)
Much more likely your spills are leaking but not sure how that would shown on mpg?
My first hint is fuel consumption, then comes diesel smell

I assume leaking as the injector sits in a puddle of fuel and while running you can see bubbles forming. I imagine I am down on power too, since I am clearly losing some compression. :oops:
 
Typical at cylinder one as there is a place to pool unlike the other 5 that slant away more. Could be union of hp pipe
I’d whip them out, cleaned mine up helped little just don’t strip them Right down if you don’t have access to a pop tester
 
Correct, liquid fuel cannot leak from injector base only combustion gas. If you have a pool of fuel in base of number one it is more than likely from spill pipes. Fuel just runs down block from all other spill leaks.
 
Just finished cutting the new carpets to fit, more or less at least. Also replaced the ignition relay that caused the engine shut downs with a new Jaguar OEM one. The wiring for the transistor ignition is also long enough to move the control init and the relay out of the engine bay and into the car. Where the radio was supposed to go is a perfect place for that.

Tomorrow will be some additional carpet fitting and electrics, ignition and maybe I have time to fit USB ports behind the rear seat mounts. When sleeping, that's a nice place to charge phones and such.

Looking forward to finally get the new headlining and diff. Axle breathers are already here, so I guess I can do that as well while I wait for parts. Budget is getting tight, so. Which sucks...
 
It’s psychological, everyone knows it never fixes anything but in your head it could have a significant impact on a positive remedy. I always kick things just in case..!!

Can sort of see that reasoning, but as I wear open toed shoes most of the year kicking stuff hurts me more than the object :D.
