Does basically the entire centre console from the Autobiography fit a P38 DSE. I'm talking switch cover, handbrake and gear lever. Just saw a pic of one and it's gorgeous in walnut.
I assume you mean a P38 autobiography? If so, yes. They took the basic centre console and sent it to a now dead British firm to carefully hand finished them.

Brake guide pins arrived so fitted them. Put a cable tie on each end of each pin to make sure the little boot stays put. Good job I did the rears too as one had seized during the week on stands.

Full brake bleed then off for a test drive. That's where the trouble started. Got back and felt front wheels and they were hot! Brakes must be binding. ****.

Dug around and found my original Land Rover calipers and a brake seal refurb kit. Got the old pistons out and with a bit of wet and dry the bit below the groove looks great. Bit above is fighting me a bit.

Question: I wire-brushed the caliper bodies (they were really rusty) and applied a rust remedy solution. I thought I might paint them but all I have lying around is Hammerite straight to metal. Any ever used it on calipers? Can it take the heat?

New calipers for the P38 are so cheap it's not worth messing with the old ones.

Fitted new shocks in the front. Decided to put the old ones in again after a short test drive. Failed to replace the rear ones. But got the second battery and circuit working. Found a cut in a tire, seems like I need new ones.

Ah, and we need new coil springs for our other car. That's where the tire and potential garage budget for the rear shocks goes.

Hoping to get the rear springs changed today, check gearbox level and see what's in the transfer box, will probably end up changing it as I've got some oil left over from the gearbox fill

No way I can get new ones in time for the MoT test on Monday. I had the kit and ols calipers so needs must. Those ones that seized were Britpart. Been on maybe 6 years?

That is unfortunately what happens when you fit something don't lube it or service it for 6 years. Some Copaslip on them when fitted and they would be like new. :D:D

Working on the rear air bags, how the frig do you get the top of the bag out? It's well stuck!!!
Airline and bottom bit came out really easy

Copraslip on brake pistons? Behind the boot?

The pin? I use a metal coat-hanger folded over to make a hook. If the bag then get a pry-bar up the side of the cap and give a wriggle. If the pin refuses to budge then give the bar some beans.

Thought it was slide pins that had seized. It's Copaslip not Copraslip, a smear would do no harm under the piston boots. It's usually cracked boots allowing water in that rusts the pistons and stops them retracting.

Been out in it after changing the drivers side rear air bag, no leaks and it all stayed together!!
I'll do the other side in the week

Just replaced the air dryer. The square nut that holds it in was rusted solid to the bolt. Fabricated a square washer out of an old number plate, bolt from a Megane thermostat, all good.
