Does your bios support uefi boot? If so, you should get the option to use the ssd, if not, you would need to load drivers for the ssd first, not easy.

You should be able to see it in the BIOS. In the boot priority options if nowhere else.

Varies by bios. I'm never quick enough to catch the message on the splash screen so end up mashing umpteen buttons like I'm playing Mario Olympics.

If you video the screen with your phone you can replay the video and pause it on the splash screen, you can then see what option to press.

Well, I did nothing with my laptop but I did remove the alternator from my '38 yesterday.... Waiting for the recon unit to arrive.
