Is it possible to replace the handbrake lever through the gaiter? RAVE sez whole centre console out which seems a bit of a faff.

There's not a lot of room. Don't think you'd get tge mount part out. Odd for the lever to fail. Sure the lever is stuffed?

Same thing happened to mine, the shoes had oil on them all over the drum contaminated, and everything was sticking, sometime the h/b wouldn't come off

Best to go under it check the drum first, see of it has oil coming from it or the shoe is damp with oil first, no £££ spent doing that

Good point.

You're looking for ATF from failed rear output seal on transfer box.

Thanks fellas. I guess I know what I'm doing Saturday morning.

Quick enough to check if it is leaking: put her on high, axle stand under chassis rail and tailgate up, reach under and feel bottom of handbrake drum with a finger. Should be dry.

My Rear output seal is leaking..

As is the front output seal on the gearbox

The Morse chain is chattering to.

Needs a rebuild.

Don't fancy doing the job on the drive.

Hard enough lifting one up while the cars on a ramp!!

Getting the transfer box off is relatively easy. Bit awkward on your back. Getting it back in was trickier. Fortunately a few mates dropped by so we held it balanced on the trolley jack and pushed ot back on.

Pfft lucky you i had to hoist if off the floor and balance it with one hand while putting bolts in with the other!

Mecs don't need the gym lol

You need a motor cycle lift its much easier, just stick a bit of worktop on top, and a couple of bricks under the higher part of the tf box and jobs a gooden:D

Gave it good clean inside and out. Been on a course for few weeks, in the mud, was stinking from me and the dog. Always comes up a treat though
Started smoking a bit when cold lately. Quite considerable for first few minutes and will soot if you rev it. Time for new plugs me thinks

Most likely oil change and air filter will help, if its glow plugs they dont start very easily
