How can they sack you?
Apparently I was rude to the Japs when I went to pick up stuff at Honda.... who knows with them, maybe I didn't bow enough and tell them how great they are, they don't want me back again! screw them like I care that much about them that I have to bow and get on bended knee to make them happy, they will all be gone next year anyway

And I got stopped by the Police and the DOT yesterday as well, full check, had some DG (Dangerous Goods) on took an hour to go through it all, but I always do all my checks and fill the forms in the morning and start my taco at 8am my CPC is all in order, so they didn't have anything to fine me for, then one hours later, I have no air in the system, big air leak coming from the truck, managed to make a temporary fix (air brakes) and get it back to the yard

They can't just sack you for that, they have to give you the requisite number of written warnings over a period of time first, otherwise it's an industrial tribunal claim.

Is it your own truck Dopey?

If they had threatened me with the sack I would have phoned them ,told them I had broken down and for them to send someone to fix it or get the truck recovered.adding tell the fitter/recovery driver to knock gently on the drivers door as I would be in the bunk fast asleep.;)

TBH I don't much care for them anyway, they are an arrogant bunch of racists, I did goodwood with them and I found out how bad they are, unless you suck up to them. I don't kiss arse, screw them, there are better people out there that appreciate your help

Had this argument many times, nowhere in the term professional driver do the words breakdown fitter /mechanic appear . Had a motor that would cut out if you turned the steering wheel to the left, very embarrassing after overtaking another truck then coasting on to the hard shoulder. It ended with a shouting match between me and the maintenance manager on the phone. I pointed out unless he did his job i couldn't do mine. He had the entire fuel system replaced which sorted the problem. We ended up good fiends.

I rang the company mechanic, told him the problem, and he just didn't want to come out on a Friday night, I was 2 miles away from the yard, so did a temporary repair and limped back

All good unless something happened on the way back, then it would have been your responsibility, bet they wouldn't back up your judgment call.

Had a couple of hours this afternoon so had a butchers at the rear wheel bearings, LH was a bit slack so adjusted. The gorilla that tightened up the lock nut at least used the proper tool instead of the usual "I'll just tap this up with a hammer and chisel", I had to get the rattle gun on it to take it off.
Anyway back together and road tested, strange noise has stopped, may be fixed, but as it was a bit intermittant don't know yet. Airport run tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Touched up the L322 upper boot lid scars. checked the oil. popped over to mum's to run the P38 up to temp as it's been sat for a month. started on the button no rattles no blows just sat their idling sounding like a meaty 4.6 V8 that wants a run. hopefully the weather will break for something better and I can get the front cover done along with a few other bits. god I love that P38!
