The cold has definitely killed the battery, thought may have been all the short runs but no:(
New battery on charger to make sure fully up, job for tomorrow.
Need to get my weight lifting grunts worked out to get that bloody thing in that tiny hole:eek:
May even spend the time to move the trolley and chain block to the sideways beam:) my back might thank me.

Let’s see if the service position allows a vertical (ish) lift, never had it up that far yet.

Anything that wasn't bolted down ended up under the seats. But still a strangely comfortable- ISH ride. Air suspension wins again..!!!!!

Yes, I'm always amazed at how soft it is off-road when it can sometimes seem a bit harsh on the road. Seems the really rough stuff seems to suit it, especially when you have a ton of wood in the back. It really is very clever.

Yes, more or less vertical.
 
I sprayed a bit of the chassis today, the bit you can see at the back under the arches, gave it a spray to see how good it is, I got a spray can of Hammeright body under-seal, it made a good job of it £5 a can from screfix,, i might do the rest bit by bit, I have a large can of it in the shed, but its a summer job to do that I think

I have a big tub of Waxoyl and a sprayer I will use that in the summer, I only had a spray can of the other stuff
 
Handbrake seems to be pretty much ineffective. I changed the transfer box out in the summer. Maybe I stuffed up the oil seal to the gearbox when I replaced it?! Don't fancy lying under it tonight so it'll have to limp on for a few more days.

Well, I don't know what happened there. After lying in the freezing cold with frost forming on my b*ll*cks I discovered there was an oil like damp patch at the bottom where the handbrake drum meets the transfer box. However, on getting the drum off there was no obvious source. The transfer box is clean as a whistle, as you'd expect for one refurbished not 6 months ago, although bottom bolt holding the drum on looked damp. All the inside of the drum was contaminated with the oily-stuff though. It is almost as if some grease from the prop has separated into oil, vapourised, worked through to the drum and then condensed on the outside of the drum, gradually contaminating the shoes. Cleaned everything out, even put a bit of wet and dry around the drum, cleaned everything again and reassembed. I thought the holes for the bolts holding the drum on were just part of the housing and didn't go all the way through but I've put a smear of Hylomar, just in case.
 
Proper tyres make a hell of a difference. As an all-rounder I've found General Grabber AT2s to be very good on the P38.
Put new winter Tigers on mine last year and this year have proved the investment was worth it again with the conditions lately.
Went out today to more snow and freezing rain (only because I was doing a hospital run )only to pootle past the local stupeedos who think a Russian attitude and a big 4wd gives you impunity to the weather. I just like seeing them at the side of the road in the ditch as there attitude to driving here constantly amazes me. Still even in bad weather trying to overtake in stupid places and the speed,,,,,,,,, just crazy.

Offside rear tyre failed
Near side windscreen wiper failed

Near side rear tyre advisory
Multiple oil leaks advisory

Pretty pleased with that, got a couple of new tyres and a wiper blade to fork out for but can't really complain!

Now you can spend the next twelve months chasing the oil leaks just in time for the next MOT..:)

I guess the old Soviet mantra of charge.. and keep going at all costs, doesn't quite work on day to day driving then..

New tyres and old tyres are not a good idea, if one axle has new tyres and the other old, the rotational differences will stress the VCU.
