Amazing.the first turn of the engine was a bit stiff, after I got it to rotate a full turn it became much easier. I presume the preserving oil has lubricated the rings/bores,.

I think might add an inline nrv, but then, I've never had any starting issues before the submerged pump gave in .. might let sleeping dogs errr errr sleep... thanks wammersMaybe broken and repaired or a later version don't know to be honest . No NRV in VDO unit.
When you fit the pump, watch that you don't knock the float wire arm out of the plastic part of the potentiometer, it comes out very easily as I found to my cost. All back together to find the fuel gauge not working, unluckily I must have dislodged it when I put a pipe in to pump out the diesel, so tank out again today.View attachment 161840

It's not the Rover V8, perhaps you had not noticed?Compressioned tested my new to me l322, over 150 psi each cylinder so no hg problems.......phew so gave it a wash but needs detailing to bring the paint up to standard.
