Today I attacked the oil cooler. It’s been leaking oil down the back of the block since before I bought it and I knew about it prior to purchase but as it started to drip on the drive it had to be done.

I got some BS611 o-rings for he turbo feed as LR told me they aren’t available any longer (they were £27 each when they were apparently!).

Looks as though I found the source of my leak and the very slight oil trace in the coolant. Caught that just in time I reckon.

love how quiet the car is with the new belts too.

So my funky steering turn right stiff off center turn returned, i sat and thought have i had enough is it just time to sell then at 160k its probably not even worth the money or hassle selling,
Also wondering how long the gearbox/torque converter will last being the zf6, it has been serviced and had a fresh valve body and solonoids and isnt showing signs of hassle,

Did start browsing for another to run about in so i could just park mine up and drop both subframes and have them blasted and treat the underside before the one day i look and it isnt silver anymore,

Then i decided to up the budget a bit and found some nice 4.4tdv8s and started my cogs ticking of i wonder if id be happy with going back too diesel,

Then i gave up with any of my random ideas or thoughts and ordered a steering rack for it as its the only steering part not changed now and its mine and past steering glitch im actually quite fond of it and started making an order up for my 5.0 v8 swapped 3 series so i can stop myself of any idea of buying another RR for now 😅

I'm not convinced your man-maths is right. You did pass the supercharger numeral to the left when adding it all up?

You might find it still leaks into the coolant - there's an updated cooler assembly that doesn't distort with the concentration of heat in the vee...
Still, it's good practice! ;) I quite 'enjoy' getting stuck into those, they're so much more accessible on the L322 than the L405, I think I was banging them out in just under 2.5 hours when I was doing them regularly.

There's only some very light staining on the bottle so it's going to be really hard to know if it is an issue/was the issue/is now resolved. I'll keep an eye on it of course and if it needs a cooler then it's not a bad job to do at all. The first time is the voyage of discovery and the second time's a lot faster.

The main driver for the repair was that it's leaking oil down the back of the block and the turbo feed is a common culprit for that so I thought I'd do it all while I was in there especially as the oil cooler is so thick in oil and muck. You never know if that's a long standing weep or the result of clumsy oil changes over the years though.

Well after years in 2 and countless l322s iv had a genuine air suspension fault,
Start up this morning all sat at normal height,
No compressor sound,
Then suspension fault only normal height avaliable,
Max speed 30, won't raise, compressor has died electronically
