Tret the Rangie to a new set of front mats as the ones that were in were like me old, worn through and leaky in places. :D

So iv been on a random mission and actually gone fiddling with something that was and is still working, and not wanting to spend out for a gap iid when theres no guarantee that it would do what I was trying to achieve

My goal, to get the leds to not flicker when doing bulb checks and to be able to run trailer led lights, while keeping failed unit warnings, without the need for adapter boxes,

My supercharged is a December 2005 55plate with 2010-2012 facelift, 2012 facelift black inserts in the rear lights, All genuine LR units

As it runs leds vs normal halogen lights it has adapter boxes that in my eyes will one day fail, and i also can't have trailer leds,

I tried with sdd in engineering mode and i cant reconfigure my lcm to accept leds

So this week iv purchased 2 e39 2000 5 series and found they share an lcm with the 1st gen x5s,

My lcm in my range rover is a LR lcm 4 and the e39s both had lcm 3s

So i managed to reconfigure the e39 lcm to work in the 4.2 supercharged and accept my l322 milage and vin. And get everything working as oem but being a lcm 3 led still didn't exist so it was just a case of turn the warnings off but no support for led sidelights,

I tried to recode my l322 lcm 4 to a bmw vin to recode it but no success,

So iv got a facelift x5 with an lcm 4 in it, iv recoded that to work with the range rover milage vin no tamper dot ect, failed bulb warnings are still on and the cold and hot bulb check but pwm is altered to suit the leds and il actually still get a warning if an led fails,

I can also run led trailer lights with no issues and still get a bulb warning if a trailer light fails too,

Check control still works, lcm coding is still avaliable and works on sdd (but still no option for the cold or hot checks or pwm on my version of sdd) but it also works and plugs and reads with the bmw pa scanner to recode, And a full save of the eprom and coding data means a replacement could be cloned without the need to plug it in a bmw to change anything

Check control still fully functional, auto lights and wipers still fully functional, no adapter boxes need anymore just unwired them and success its like its oem

Im quite happy all this has cost me is 2hrs graft this evening

Cleaned up the oil off the bottom of it and then gave the rest a bit of a rinse off. Checked the tyres and then went on a wild goose chase looking for hoses.

Exciting stuff today! When I first got the 38 (dhse) it had nice overmats front and rear but the drivers one always moved when I got in or out.not a massive biggy but annoying as I could see that something was missing that was supposed to hold it firm but I had no idea what. Anywhoo, I was rooting about under the drivers seat for a lost hex key and found an odd plastic thing with a bit of steel rod sticking out of it and it's the overmat holder downer and it works! Dunno what the rod was for but it looked like it was supposed to be there but the knob wouldn't fit with it in place so I pulled it out.
If anyone has the same set up I would be interested to know what that rod is for. Its about 2 or 3mm diameter with a 90 deg bend in it, one long side and one short, the short end fitted in to the plastic knob. On another note, the book is up again this morning after changing the air direction but not investigated that yet.

Picture of the rod?

Cleaned up the rear carpet. If anyone East Hampshire/West Sussex-way needs or wants one then you’re very welcome to it. I’ve ordered a whole new set as the front ones are in absolute tatters. Could eBay it but I don’t think the backing would survive being folded and posted very well. So, yeah, free if anyone wants to pick it up. It’s not pristine but in pretty good nick. Often in West London too if that helps.

@Grrrrrr
The book symbol that popped up yesterday after changing air direction was off today at start up.
Never thought to change air direction again to see if it reappeared.

Bizarre. Pressing the button to direct the air through the screen rather than the lower vents?

Well thats it on route to the paint shop, new number plates ordered, new badges ordered, couple of front parking sensors for the ones that are missing,
Then when it's finished its straight onto the mechanicals and then off too the cleaners for a well deserved deep clean inside
Should be better then the day I bought it
