What did I do to P38? Well bought one specifically @kermit_rr p38, just need to get a few of the little niggly bits sorting now, gonna take a look at the drivers door handle tomorrow and check all the fuel lines under the bonnet as seem to be getting a smell of petrol through the hevac probably just a perished hose.
Oh look at that issue of it not wanting to go into park aswell as it stopped going back into park again when i pulled up at the petrol station round the corner probably something do with with the xyz switch.

For the record this isn't me complaining of any issues Kermit was very forthcoming with her downsides.

Enjoy your new investment:)

The not going into park is a new thing, maybe it hasn't liked being sat unused and will free up? Could be xyz related, could also be the cable sticking a bit?

My thoughts on why it might be the xyz switch is because I found even though the dash and gear selector light says its in reverse along with the reverse lights being on the back of the car when you come of the brake it doesn't actually move which suggests the gearbox itself it getting put into park.

If the lights show the correct gear, that tends to suggest the XYZ switch is OK as that is what in effect drives the lights and the dash display. Initial gear selection is, if I remember correctly, mechanical.

Lights show the wrong gear at least when it come to reverse and park I found if I really sort of slam it to park it will correct show park on the dash and lights. Either way when the stick is in park but still showing reverse light and dash foot of the brake it’s not trying to reverse show gearbox is actually in park. Gonna try and adjust it tomorrow.

Took the door card off today and it’s the little plastic nun on the pull handle that has worn away so slips out of the spring mechanism so ordered a good second hand one so as soon as that come will fit that and won’t have to get in from the passenger side.
Ordered the spring replacement for tailgate button aswell.

haven’t figured out where the petrol smell is coming from yet. Hard to see any pipes under all the lpg stuff on top of the engine.

The petrol supply is a common rail with no return, essentially a U shape piece of metal tube with a quick release connector under the coil packs at the back of the engine, you have to take them both out to see it
Unplug the leads from the plugs, unplug the coil feed on either side then there's only one bolt 8mm? on the top, need a long extension. The coil packs come out as a pair from the drivers side, it's right but they do fit

Otto is occasionally just a bit flaky about cleanly selecting Park, Reverse and Neutral. I just put it down to mechanical wear as a wriggle of the lever back and forth usually settles it.
On Tuesday last week he wouldn't start for SWMBO when she had been to visit a friend - wasn't fully into Park so the system wouldn't let her crank. Reverse and back to Park and it was fine.
Still haven't got round to trying to swap the wires and hoses between the headlamp wash and the tailgate wash to get that working, but was able to determine there is no pump noise when the rear wash is activated, so pretty sure that will sort it in due course.

It's quite likely to be a sticky cable, quite a common problem.

Definitely seems that way, have sprayed it copious amounts of wd40 earlier and it went in on the high side no problem and was easier to slide along the other gears aswell, low side it still didn’t seem to want to go into park but now after a longer drive it’s stiffened up again and won’t go into park well it it will with a bit a of a shove nowhere near as much as a shove as before the spray though so gonna give it another good spray, might see if there is something better that will hold on as I reckon the wd has evaporated with the heat from the exhausts.

Put up the plastic cover over the rear wiper motor earlier,

Had a look at the why the rear door won’t open from the inside turns out where the rod goes into the inner handle it’s missing the green plastic clip that holds it in to the hole though my googling can’t seem to find a replacement

had a look at why the front passenger window was jumping and causing the anti-trap sensor when going up. Looks like the left hand rail had go bashed on the lips so bent them out slightly and now that’s all good. Also found the speaker in that door had been left unplugged.

Tried to trace the stuff to do with the lpg to get that working but not a clue with that one wouldn’t event know where to begin to finish off the work that Kermit started.

Wd40 is no good, add you found out it goes dry and can get quite sticky with dust etc, I'd try a spray grease but others may have a better idea.

Never noticed you couldn't open the rear door! The mot man didn't either!

Re. Lpg, have you got the wiring diagram in the RR folder? If not I'll have a look for it here, it won't be chucked out. Any wires I've not connected should all be labelled up though. If you can't read my writing then post a pic and I'll decipher for you

I didn’t say any wiring diagram in the folder, I’m surprised it’s still got all the kits from all the way back to 04/05 though and found at that the original owner is was in Warwick which isn’t a massive distance from me and the dealer was only about 7 miles from me lol

yeah it’s only cause when my nephew got in the back he couldn’t open the door I found out about the rear door. Easy fix if I can find one of the plastic bits. Might just have the buy a second hand inner handle and just take the price off.
