That don't look good, could be a rough pulley wearing the edge of the belt hopefully, it's just a duff belt, can happen sometimes,
good luck.
Allegedly all but one was changed, the one left was in good order but i don't know which one or even if you can see them all without spending a week taking bits off every bit seems dependant on another being removed first :D

Blimey, just watched some YouTube videos on replacing the main belt.. fan and fan shroud off, turbo bypass off, gearbox oil cooler drop, drain the coolant de-gas the AC.. fook that idea right off.. not doing all that in a couple of hours!!!

5 min job on the p38 to change the belt

You sure the shop actually changed the belt then, or just did bits to make it quieter / less obvious for a while to get rid of you?

That's modern motors for yer, P38 was easy mainly because they put the tensioner in a sensible place but, the design went back to the 90s before, the acccountants didn't consider or care who has to service/repair them, all they think of is £££, got similar on my Focus, hoping to change the thermostat tomorrow, alternator has to come off to make it easier, I'm too bloody old to struggle,
got myself a set of them extra long ring spanners, I mean who in their right mind would put the belt tensioner at the bottom of
the engine? but, with the long spanner I won't need to lay on the cold wet ground.:)

The invoice says both were replaced by pretty sure i checked at the time and the both looked new

Bad news is the front small belt has to come off, that has to be cut and put back on with a special stretch tool (pinch of salt needed).
But will look again tomorrow.

I've just had another look at your photo, the AC compressor (I think that's what it is) pulley, looks damaged on the front edge.
Sorry, can see it bottom right, can't see damage though, just a bit of orange rust? Where i cleaned some crap off

I thought it looked like the front edge of the groove was flattened off a bit, like it had been clouted with something, look to the
left of the centre of the pulley above it, maybe it's an illusion.
