Success - bonnet open (sticky catches, cleaned and lubed). Back on 4 wheels with EAS working fine and seeing to inflate much quicker - not surprising looking at the old bags. Popped to all heights happily, after a sulky start to running again. Standing in the heat probably didn't do the fuel system under the bonnet any favours. Underside given a protective spray now too.
Now off to take him for a test run and a bacon butty.

Most folks (everyone) says be careful when touching the SRS connections, eg the one under the seat which often gives a problem. Disconnect the battery, leave for 30 mins etc before disconnecting or reconnecting.

Shirley.. if touching that (or any other) airbag connection was so risky, bags would be firing everytime you went over a bump or moved the seat and caused the light to come on?
Surely the trigger voltage is much higher than the continuity test voltage? I've never heard of an airbag going off because someone broke the under seat wire

You can plug and unplug the connectors no problem. Putting an ohm meter across the airbag pins may fire it.

Ordered the o-ring of doom from the dealers. Oddly enough it is a cream colour in the pic.

New parking area made available after 500 dump trips.

I can see a lot of work was done over the weekend ;)
To mix it up, I managed to take mine first time to Salisbury (first time for me and the Rangie). Loved it, now looking at it out of the window, nice and dusty. Better wash it asap before dust becomes a permanent feature. Hmmm, nothing wrong with that tho...

Apart from a flipping bolt removed from one of my tyres we did this...

corrosion on the ignition switch plug... 8hrs to get to the ignition key assembly and then clean the connector... Land Rovers are great aren't they

Another f*cking disaster ...

New o-ring for the coolant heater pipe to block arrived. 1 bolt to fit, what could possibly go wrong? Pipe out, smear of Hylomar behind the shoulder and over the face of the connecting pipe. O-ring coated in Vaseline and slipped in front of the shoulder on the pipe. Pipe inserted and as I start to tighten the bolt my little 1/4" Halfords qrench just falls apart in my hands. At least 1 screw from it missing. Cannot find missing bits: it is ****ed and it is only a year or so old. Get the big wrench and ever so gently start to nip it up, holding the whole head in my hand rather than the end of the wrench. Still sone give so nip it up a bit more and then snap! F*cking bolt has sheared off in the block. No room for drill so whole front of the car has to come out except the effing gearbox cooler pipes are welded to yhe rad and won't shift. Last time I used more torque they sheared off. Absolutely soaked them in Plusgas and packed in for the day. I really have had enough of this. The f*cker is fighting me every single sodding step of the way. Not a single step has been without issue.

It's a ****y little 6mm UNC bolt and that's all that holds it in. Nothing protruding so no choice but to drill it out. Heat hardened no doubt but at least the coolant won't have let it get that hot.
