They said they did. I didn't think to ask what they used.. Had to dig it out of storage as they haven't used it in ages. I wonder why nothing was recorded. Unless they lied.
Maybe thy didn't lie but the diagnostic equipment was not compatible with the rather unique P38.

They did say they had specific P38 diag when I first called because the guy joked about how little they use it. I'll give them a bell tomorrow and confirm they used P38 specific diag and not generic snap-on stuff.
 
What's the deal with egr thingummies? Do you treat them as a service item.. take off and clean periodically even if no active fault?

Thanks. Just had a look at LR parts , and have to say I won't be using them, despite price being good. I don't use any company that puts a surcharge on Highlands and Islands. There's no need. The courier charge is worked into price. If they use royal mail they don't charge extra.
 
Just checked speed did 10/15 mph no change there traction fault and light on and abs light on also the brake fluid went high after last try so drained bit out then tried again and brake fluid went low do I need to do live data readings on the nanocom thanks for the advice

it depends on the euro rating and cars emissions systems.
On some vw engines around 2004 if the egr valve is blanked the ecu expects the gasses to change as the egr opens. If there is no change in gasses as expected it throws a fault. Earlier models have no recognition of egr gas changes in the final emissions. The later stuff with dpf systems are more sensitive than ever. The latest has an even more complicated emmissions system..... :rolleyes: the thermal engine is dead:(
 
Seems the old V8 is píssing coolant out from somewhere, and it is at a very significant rate..

Out of the bellhousing too, so it looks like the entire lump is going to have to come out, oh joy!!

No rush though as its not on the road at the moment. ;)
 
No DPF on the P38. I have run one P38 for years with the EGR disabled, no adverse effects to date and no manifold full of crap. The other P38 has been the same for 3 years or so. I reconnect the vacuum pipe for the MOT.
Ours is snipped under the manifold out of view but looks connected:D no more shïtty manifold gunk:cool:
