That's a very tidy looking engine bay, I'll be ashamed to post any pictures of either of mine now! :eek:
 
Not so much the issue of the liners having been pressed in,

The Rover V8's flaw is the water jackets which due to very poor tooling is offset in the block and as such if the engine is cooked the thin wall of the jacket cracks and the liner slips..

Often you can see how poor the tooling was, for example some of the follower bores have a machining marks above them, while others don't..:D

They cast the engine around the liners, where land rover insert them into the engine afterwards.
The different liners can be bored out to make a 3.9/4.0/4.6

I actually think You will find (haven’t checked) but the 3.9 & 4.0 is one and the same, the 4.6 is the same but stroked:eek::D.

I might be wrong and just had a dream:):)

And I think there was an over 5 litre version:eek:

I was offered 5.2:eek:. When I replaced our 4.6.
