Ok went back to the garage again:).
Time to find the petrol leak and finish the ATF change;).

So plug out and I guess the "O" ring has seen better days;)

So new "O" ring and put it back in carefully as its ally fuel rail;), Nip up and tested, bone dry:D.
No idea how long it had been leaking but glad I found it and may even get a few extra MPG might get 10 now:eek:

Topped up the last of the ATF change, 5.4L in total so need to get a n other litre or 2 for when I do the filter later.

So I will take today as a win:D.

Will tackle the spark plug change tomorrow cos they are a right pain to get at, also think I may have a slight exhaust leak as we both smelt fumes inside the other day so need cold engine to do both those jobs.

How do you compress the springs without a spring compressor to get the collets out?

Use a kit like this one. Airline to pressurise the cylinder & hold the valves up, and then the other bits to compress the springs & remove collets.

Many years ago, I used a load of PVC sleeve inserted through spark plug hole, and then use the piston to hold that against the valves !! Didn't have compressor & the kit back then.

that looks far too dangerous to me :eek:

I have done it with rag poked down the spark plug hole, always nervous when pulling it out:eek:

Well done and not an arm and a leg to fix.;):D
 
Get some Gates pipe Jack 3.2mm I.D thick walled and tight as Scotsman/ Yorkshire woman's offspring.no need for shrink wrap or cable ties. I had to ease the pipe by pushing a pair of long nosed pliers into it and quickly putting it on the nipple before it tightened up. I checked the other day and all dry.;):D
Are you saying us Yorkshire men are tight:rolleyes::rolleyes:
