Spent a couple of hours brass brush scrubbing and then wiping out with cleaner on the rocker covers and inners. Not quite there yet but pretty close. SWMBO says she will try the Dremel and wire brush on the remaining sticky corners tomorrow. And also clean up the fuel injector pipework.
 
Had a intermittant suspension fault show today on my L405!!! After speaking with my LR specialist i use and booking it in for her minor service he assured me on what i explained to them it was just the EAS filter on the compressor which will need cleaning/replacing. A common issue he said and often over looked. He said it acts as a silencer too for the air as you cycle through the different height settings of the suspension. LR modified it under recall by drilling a small hole in it to allow the air to escape easier thus not throwing the fault light. It has self extinguished on its own too. All booked in and will all be done in a couple of weeks. " Phew " LOL
Now isnt that strange, L322 have had the just the same issue and mod done for years so it looks like Land Rover didnt bother to sort it on the L405 either.
 
Spent 4 hours on Tuesday removing a rear upper suspension bush, snapped a length of 12mm rod through 2 sockets before doing the old hacksaw the f@@ker trick so when I saw this set in its own neat little box I thought hmm. Anyhoo it arrived today and it's not so little, weighs in at 15kg. Now need some decent weather so I can do the other side in 10 mins :D:D

Looks like it my friend but she will be sorted in a couple of weeks by my specialist who knows what he is doing. He and his business partner are both ex factory/main dealer master technicians with over 50 years experience between them both. They both started young and worked their ways up through the ranks before having enough of group/dealer politics and went out on their own. Because they are master techs they have all the tools and knowledge to sort out any model new or old/older to factory standards albeit i feel they are far better as they are top blokes, honest 100% and reliable with it. They can access the main dealer network too so they are able to fully update all my cars online service history, print it off for me and apply updates to the car which is brilliant at half the price or less you would pay a main stealer. They also afford me veterans discount off labour and parts rates too which is brilliant. They are always busy but they actually take the time to talk to you and listen at the same time which a main stealer wont do.

I held off buying a nearly new model but now i have these chaps onside i am 100% confident going forward with my L405 and enjoying ownership. The bills for servicing and repairs are just part and partial of ownership and is the same with any car.

That's a handy tool to have in the arsenal mate.

Think we all knew the L405 was just another bodged Green Oval when the issues started when they were just weeks old.
It's part of the reason I decided not to get one. Other reasons have shown since.

Each to their own i suppose. They are deffo not a car for someone who thinks they can run it on a shoe string budget and get away with it. If maintained properly and regularly then they serve well. Like all vehicles from time to time they will break and need fixing or if caught early they can be fixed before the big bills arrive which only really do if a car has been neglected. Preventative maintanance we called it in the Army and as an ex RFM & RQMS pretty much all my green oval fleet were on the road 95% of the time unlike some fleets i knew who were lucky to have 50% on the road which i put down to poor user maintanance and weak RFM's who would not crack the whip with sub unit users. One thing that does baffle me Gold Rover is if you think all Green Oval vehicles are a bodge then why do you own one???? why don't you own something else more reliable like a Robin Reliant or a G Wizz??
