Took the rocker shaft assemblies and pushrods out ready for cleaning and inspection. Worrying clinking noise when removing the number 2 pushrods, sounded like tappets coming loose....

Leaving the lower manifold / valley gasket etc until my mate returns the multitool and we have a couple of dryish days in a row to get under and cut the heatshield bolts off. Then I can head at the manifold bolts and heads.

Lowest according to RAVE is 6%, but on mine that certainly looks like off. Bit weird when you do that and lose all sight of the revs and speedo, etc on an unlit motorway at (hmmm) mph!
Yep I agree. 6% must be the new 0%. I know as we age our eyesight does deteriorate however, when I got my 22 year old son to see it he said that they were indeed off. I think we may have found a, not a lie, but more of an error. :D

Bits ordered.. let's hope i can get the old abs sensor out
Plenty of lube spray over it Kermie and a small tad of heat and some gentle persuasion and it should pop out. make sure you clean up the hole and apply a thin bit of vasaline on the outer edge of the sensor for future easy of removal

Well.

Fitted a new/used blower motor, on the pax side.

Really easy job took 5 minutes!

Old'un out!

Verdict is good.

Nice blowage from the vents and my HVAC book has disappeared!

RESULT! :)

Picked up the new valve spring compressor and retrieved the multi-tool ready for savaging heat shield bolts.

Looked at the first (less cooked) rocker shaft and definitely going to need some work to get all the bits off, lots of baked varnish build up. Hopefully after that there will be easier removal of the pillars and rockers. Lots of cleaning and checking to do. Visible marking but nothing perceptible to the finger at 3 points on each of the rocker bearing surfaces so far. Polish but no wear marks at the valve stem contact points. Pushrod contact points look OK so far too.

Drove her. Jumped in , turned key, and vroooom. Which considering tailgate won't lock , was a pleasant surprise. I've been leaving her unlocked , in the hope that when she goes on her security rounds she doesn't recognise tailgate isn't locked , because no other door is locked. Air Suspension has gone again, but no point faffing until lock is done.
