thank you datatek & Grit valve, managed to test fuses and relays tonight, and were found to be working ok. I've hooked up my Nanocom no errors stored in the ECU, I will have to wait till weekend or maybe book a day off later in the week to remove the pump and get a better look.

No need to remove pump as yet once connected to the abs system did you recycle the ingnition you must do this for diagnostics to perform


After checking go to inputs check voltage under heading pump moniter
There are also two choices for pressure switch 1 and two check status and finally

Go to output turn on pump relay

See what you come up with :)
 
Topped up oil water and put a new fuel filter on then Started changing the newer bits out of my older p38 manual into my newer p38 auto thus so far I have done rf unit and dog guard . Then tried to find the rattle noise coming of the engine :confused:

Thank you for your reply Grit, unfortunately I have a 1998 P38 with Wabco type C ABS ECU which has less diagnostic features compared to the later type D ECU and cannot do any of the bits you mentioned.
As always your help is much appreciated, I'll let you know how I get on when I get chance to take a better look.

Been running quite good as of late. Managing an average of 28 mpg (when converted) on the gas. Not bad for only 8 miles a day in heavy traffic.

Got a few things to get sorted soon, but nothing drastic. Just the usual winter checks. Might invest in some new rubber.

But as I say, still got her.

28 mpg equivalent is about right for short drives on LPG.
 
Worked it with the amount of gas to the miles done as well. That came to 27.6 so not far off.

Yes Keith, she got a job in August. Now she wants to get a car too. Lol. Told she's not going to have mine lol

Bull**** LPG is less efficient than petrol there is not a V8 rover on the planet that ever gets anywhere near 28 MPG.
 
Not wrong, mine averages 18 mpg tootling about (15mpg on LPG). With LPG near me costing 67p / ltr against lets say £1.30 average for unleaded. Do the maths.
 
PS, I get approx 32 mpg on a good run taking it steady:)

You need to tell Land rover they will possibly buy it back from you to strip down and find how how it is doing it. Urban cycle on petrol 12.3 MPG, open road 22.7 MPG, combined 17.4 MPG. LPG will be less than that in real terms because it is less efficient fuel. All you are doing is saying LPG is half the price so you are doing twice the MPG, you are not, you are doing less MPG in all cycles on LPG than you would on petrol, but because of the price difference the equivalent of an higher MPG on petrol. When running on LPG your fuel computer will be out by a fair margin. So you cannot just double the MPG it does not work that way. If you could buy petrol at 10 p a gallon you would still be using it at the same rate, it would just cost less to fuel the car.

If Land rover give figures that say urban tootling as you put it, gives 12.3 MPG on petrol how the hell are you getting 15 MPG tootling on a less efficient fuel?
 
I've never had figures any near 12.3 mpg. I've been 'tootling' all week & my trip is saying 17.9 mpg & is pretty accurate to actual mileage / fuel usage (no, i don't just go off the trip).
I do drive like a granny recently (in practice for our new arrival). :)

LPG is cheaper than petrol, but you get LESS MPG from it than you would from petrol. You are saving money by using it leave it at that.
 
LPG is about 15% less efficient than petrol as it has a lower calorific value...

I run LPG and I average 15.3 on LPG, computer regularly returns 18mpg. 15.3/18 = 0.85

I don't work out the equivalent in a theoretical MPG, I work it out as Pence per Mile...

On LPG I return 22.3p per mile @ 15.3mpg

If I was running 250 miles on Petrol at 18mpg at £1.31p/l that would be:

250 / 18 = 13.89 gallons

13.89 x 4.54 = 63.06 Litres

63.06 x 131 = 8260.86 pence (£82.61)

8260.86 / 250 = 33.04 pence per mile

If I was to work out the equivilant:

Petrol Price = 131p per litre
LPG = 72p per litre

72 / 131 = 0.5496

15.3mpg / 0.5496 = 27.8mpg

But it is not a true figure and is purely theorectical and means nothing really....

Price per mile is a more accurate way of judging cost saving
