Its most likely the switch buddy further down the system line. Have you changed your filter on it at all?? ive had 3 LPG cars in the past and TBH there is not really much that can go wrong with them apart from routine service items such as the filter and a few seals maybe. Do you have a local LPG installer you can take it to??? if not google your lpg system online and you should get all the info you need.
i dont have a wiring diagram so i'm a bit clueless, its a prehistoric system too which doesn't help. had an installer look at it a while back 'cor blimey not seen one of them in years, I don't have any tools to work on that anymore'

I think he is just trying to get you to buy a new system off him mate. Any decent LPG fitted will be able to sort it for you no matter how old it is.

What brand name is your system BTW???? Top branded makes are Prinz and OMVL with a valve lube on them too. Had these on my cars and they never let me down.

Never heard of that system before buddy so it must be old and possibly one of the very early systems. Do you know how long its been fitted to your car??? Prior to your ownership i assume??? Have you tried running it OUT OF GAS to see if it then defaults back automatically to petrol???

yes very old, the car is 2000, i think it was added within 3 years of new. Maybe I'm not very good at explaining.. it switches between lpg and petrol just fine, its just the switch stays lit up when the ignition is off and one time the injectors were firing with the ignition off :eek: until i flicked the switch back to petrol

@Saint.V8 has been playing with LPG for years. Bet he'd know where to start.

I know nowt about LPG but I am guessing there's a switch to select the option to use LPG. I am also guessing it won't do so without an input from somewhere else telling it it is safe to do so and maybe coolant is hot enough to vapourise the gas in the vapouriser and if all that is true it probably triggers a relay that opens the valve to the tank allowing gas into the vapouriser. That's how I would do it, anyway.

So if gas is constantly getting through I would think something is holding that relay open or some dirt is stuck in the valve (tar?) Or a seal has perished somewhere, possibly around the vapouriser input?

@MrGorsky plays with LPG too. Someone else too, might have been @ukadamwest or @biketeacherdave .

That sounds odd. As far as I am aware it uses the petrol injector pulses to trigger the gas injectors so the car must have thought it was still running? Like I say though, I know nothing about LPG so might be totally wrong.

yep theres a switch which does what its supposed to, when its supposed to. It will only switch on overrun at 2000rpm, over 40c

whats even more odd is very occasionally, it will light up even when i've pulled the main fuse to the LPG :( I'll bet thats related somehow

Oddly im just servicing my lpg at the moment iv had a slight leak from the coolant hose so orderd my self a service kit for the vapouriser with aluminium elbows.

Have a look where your lpg ECU gets its live feed from it should have been taken from the fuse box direct.
 
As a long term qualified DSA registered examiner and instructor and Police trained advanced IAM member it comes as no surprise to me today about the poor standards of driving we see on our roads and it really bothers me too how folk pass their tests. I have seen driving school instructors drive like total knobbers too and have actually pulled a few up for it. You can imagine the response i got off them. Morons. They just have no idea at all today. No values, No standards and No respect today.
Just don't get me started.I live in Russia when not working and oh my god the things i see.

There is a fused connection direct from the battery, the dash switch usually goes dead when i pull the fuse. There must be another 12v coming from somewhere though
 
Something to bear in mind when opening up the LPG system for servicing/changing filters etc, the black deposits you may find within the system are highly carcinogenic. I think they are known as "heavy ends" whatever that means.

Heavier molecules: longer so more carbon molecules. Tar, in effect. Just about everything to do with petrochemicals is carcinogenic. Mind you, read the COSHH data sheet for sodium chloride and it will put you off your chips.
 
Need to find a new spring to fix the boot button :(
I think I fixed my last one by strip down, clean up and stuffing a piece of sponge inside the spring. Probably would need replacement occasionally. Other fixes have been making spring from piano wire (who hasn’t got an old ‘grand’ knocking about in the garage somewhere) or a generic spring from an engineering suppliers.
