Anybody else got this corrosion on theirs

Anyway it’s annoyed us long enough, 2 new ones arrived today so they got fitted:D

The little tab (red bit covering the sticky bit) is a right PITA to get back under the glass.
Wooden kebab skewer worked great to get the old tabs out and help ease new ones in.

All done 30mins.

They've gone back to basics on the L322 and with a nod to the Classic ensured it rusts at least as fast.

New rad and water pump. Uprated to a metal impeller type the original was plastic and a known failure on the m62 engine.
I had a bit of high temp on the needle when sitting in traffic ok when driving so usual blocked rad on these. Found the water pump bearing shot on inspection so replaced both.

L322's seem to suffer the same problem as post 1989 classics, the steel is contaminated from factory.

Almost every L322 i've seen has rust, some terminal..

Atleast you have the P38 ;)

Finished flushing my gearbox x2 flushes over the last few weeks then final flush new filter and refill. Gearbox silky smooth nothing on the magnets to cause any concern.
:D
Transfer case done last week just the diffs left todo.

Cam covers?

Yeah I did them when I bought the car have redone the right hand one again I also managed to cross reference the O ring sealing washers for the cam cover bolts.
If you order them for a range rover £8:50 each bugger that got 12 for £10 so they seal up nice n tight now to.

Fitted some genuine water proof front seat covers which actually dont fit very well or should I say they fit but arnt made to fit. They require the headrest to be removed 1st which on the L322 which has a fully electric headrest is impossible.

It was only 7’C yesterday but the battery was decidedly lazy starting the beast. Once running there was a good 15+ volts going in but without a 30 mile run it’s all used keeping the circuits warm for next time.
Think I’ll go for a drive this afternoon to see if there’s any more water to drain into the boot lol.
Tricky

Fitted said new battery spins over much faster, I knew the battery was weak I suspect a faulty cell only the little green indicator still shows green but I did charge it over night.
Sooo nice little drive
heated seat on check
Heated steering wheel on check
Blowers on climate set to 20 check
Radio on check
No more worries about running out of electricity check
