So far I've done..
New swivel
New cv joint

Bolt in and there is play when it's straight can see it move in the freely (when no flange on), left and right.. just when I'm pulling the thing there's no more leg room to pull out to put the circlip on?

I dont know, I am sure the faces are clean on the flange.
Does the flange move out when you pull on the shaft?
But did you happen to compare old v new before fitting?
Did you happen to take a pic of the inside of the new balls?

But I am afraid to say I guess its all got to come apart again:(.

@Brown had some dodgey swivel balls once if I remember.

+1 to the above + @Brown 's balls were fouling and needed a small area buzzing back to fit. Or, did he send them back for replacements?

sure you got the right cv? if not the wheel hub wont go all the way on
This is the second side he has done, without the issue on the first side.
So me thinks parts would be the same, so suspect manufacturing issue?
Or a mismatch on his axle, side to side maybe? (that being a thought in type, not knowledge based).

No the old flange is the same issue. It’s like the CV doesn’t come out enough but I did check the sizes and it’s the right size etc. I’ve pulled and even tried to use a puller to get anything but it won’t pull out any further

Has the flange been changed? There are different depth's
The 300tdi doesn’t fit the 200tdi btw the inner flange is bigger than the 200tdi but that’s not the issue here. When I took it apart I took off two shims and a circlip and I can’t even get them outside th e flange now lol

Yeah checked everything was 1:1 literally no play outwards at all

I had this issue but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. I think it was a case of taking it apart and refitting it and jiggling it a bit.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but it did go back together - but I didn't change my CVs.

Mine was the left hand side.

I was having a Google and some people just said drive it for a mile and it should budge. I mean even on full lock it’s not going in much so if it does hit the swivel.. oh well lol

But in your pics that you have last posted you have a different drive flange (are they from the other side?)
Have you a new drive flange for the side you are now having problems with as it appears to be an old 1 in the original pic?

Is leading towards a mismatch of parts old and new?

300tdi drive flanges don’t fit on the 200tdi btw as the inner diameter is bigger on the 300tdi flanges. But I’ve no idea what my issue is even on full lock (me moving the swivel) I can’t get it to move either.

I see people have been talking about me - I haven't looked in here for a few days so missed it. There are pictures of what I did on the 'What have you done to your Landy' thread, beginning here: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/what-have-you-done-to-your-landie-today.62254/post-4954513 The CV joints kept fouling on the insides of the balls so I ground a bit off. Initially I tried with a Dremel type tool but that wasn't shifting much metal with its tiny sanding and grinding attachments so I bought a cheap die grinder off Amazon for about £25 and that shifted the excess metal very easily. The swivels have been OK for several tens of thousands of miles since then so it clearly didn't weaken them too much.

The pictures of the actual swivels being ground out are on a different thread here: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/brakes-and-bearings.363222/

Thanks for replying!

So your CV hit the bottom bit where you had to grind out? No issues since then?

I’m not up for taking it all back off, going to just throw it all back together then drive 50 meters and if there’s no movement from the cv I’ll then remove it all.

Did your cv / swivel still move left to right and did you hear any metal sounds if it was hitting?
