Hi,
Just off to halfords (well someone has to)

What break fluid should I use when changing the wheel cylinders Please?
Dot4
Dot5
or should I try strips????

Thanks JJ

Manual says DOT3 but DOT4 should be OK. DOT3 and 4 should be mixable together but check what it says on the tin. DOT5 is a very different formulation and I'm fairly sure can't be used for DOT3/4 systems. DOT5.1 (confused yet?) is designed for ABS systems and is supposedly mixable with 3 and 4 but not 5.

Don't buy it from halfords for starters it'll be about a tenth of the price at your local motor spares place.

ok well thanks for the info.
I had to nip out at lunch time so got some Dot4, Yes from halfords.

Problem is there dont seam to be as many small motor shops around as there use to be :-(

All set now to change the wheel cylinders in the morning, O and its going to rain :-(

Well I got the break fluid but now I need both rear break pipes and a T connector.
I tried a 10mm spanner on the pipe fittings and it was too small, 11mm was too big... Went out and brought a AF set of spanners and none of them fit too well either ???

Just going to change everything I cant undo. If nothing else it should make things better next time I need to do any work !
