I'm excited. Finally picking up my - new to me - Disco td5. Thought I would never get another one after the last one's chassis disappeared in a disintegration of rust, but, if you're hooked you gotta get another fix. I'm getting too old for this but I've been up since the crack of blackout waiting for my lift and he's not due until 1 o'clock.

Best of luck with the "new" D2 - as post #2 - I hope this one is kinder to you, too :)

Dinitrol is a good call IMHO - just get any welding done properly first ;) like the sound of the massage too  - oh, er, sorry, that might be the wrong thread o_O:D

I remember the excitement and relief after we came back to LR .... following several years, ahem, "problems" with a certain ni$$an POS which fell in half .

@Disco1BFG - at least D2s do the rusting gradually all over....

:) .... and at least you can buy the bits for them... the chassis for the previously mentioned "thing", was, allegedly 14K ( I'm still not sure if I believe this o_O)

We're sticking with D1's for "ever" now - I'll weld anything that rots on the basis that it'll be nearly impossible to spend 14K on vehicles AND tools

Finally picked it up. Beautiful. BUT: just made it out of the Dales on fumes as tank empty when keys handed over, flat battery and had to jump it, washers completely dry on a day like this with road-dirt and mud flying everywhere. I could never hand over a motor like that......... wouldn't most of us hand it over in the condition we would like to receive it? Maybe I'm too old an old-fashioned.

All my motors & boats are always cleaned & had a health check before I sell them as I like people
to be happy with them unless its an unfinished project or needing restored then its sold as seen.

I just got another for d2 for free just put it in for a mot yesterday & it passed with a couple of advisory's
happy days :D putting my defender off the road for some pampering as its too nice for a work vehicle
& the lads don't give a toss getting in it with mank overalls/boots & stinking of fags YUK

Good luck with your new motor ;)

No, don’t think you are old fashioned, more just common decency! Sounds like the people I bought a house from once.... took every lightbulb with them.....

Glad that you are happy though!

Thanks for good wishes everyone: just another hiccup which I had to take in the chin last night - it became extremely cold and icy and the wife wouldn't let me bring it in out of the cold! No feelings that one........(I put her gloves in the freezer, see how she likes it,. Childish? Me....?)

Over the years I have realised that you can’t judge others by your own standards... once I accepted that, I spent a lot less time being disappointed.
You are right but I have a lot of trouble not seeing the good side of people - but I am getting seriously p....d off with 'em though!
