Olla, I've looked at post on here about the common rot between the outer rear arch and the 'c' pillar. Just wondered , is the c pillar aluminium? As the arch only seemed to be siliconed to the the c pillar. If so how can I join the two. Can I mig aluminum to the steel arch ?:(

Just to add , this area looks like it has been fixed before but is starting again and holes are forming so want to nip it now.

You cant weld ally to steel or vice versa, you can only screw, rivet, bolt or bond with sikaflex or similar PU adhesive

Cheers Neil, yeh she is 100% on the road, never off it that's the problem ;0)
Aye, i thought it was steel and just the quarter panel that pillar and just alloy but couldn't work out why you wouldn't attach the wing to the c pillar and fill the gap with silicone? Like I said, it has been repaired by previous owner before so might have been a shoddy repair. But doon to be rectified.

Thank for the link Horsr62, the arch is actually ok. Just where it meets the c pillar has started to go so just going to patch weld it I think. but if too awkward I'll just replace the whole arch as per your link.

If you need a arch I have a new surpluses to requirement arch you can have for a couple of beer tokens. Can't remember what side it is tho will need to look in the garage.

Cheers Neil , I'll let you know as it's in my opinion solid enough, just where it meets the pillar , some small holes but isn't attached to c pillar at all ;0( it's the off side one .

How's yours, back together and on the road?

It's back together. Had it out the garage today to wash it off and check for any water leaks. Looks like I have most of it sealed up nice and tight. Hope for mot in a week or so.

Aye mine's is due, start of next month, so just a few things to get done before then ;0) hopefully see you out and about soon then ;0)

Yeah hope to get it finally back on the road then I can use it for a bit then maybe sort out the body work a little.
