The first cherished number (where the **** did "cherished" come from) I remember was in the sixties. Some poor **** was being prosecuted for putting a " mark after the number twentyone on their numberplate which was 21 NOB.

cherished plate? lol

got a private plate if thats the same? ;)

just initials, very sad - got it on all of cars in household!

Sorry, I had to add to this number plate thing...

Back in the early eighties I was driving near Cambridge with a friend when a Ferrari Testarossa drove past with the numberplate FAG 1. It was being driven by a Guy who must have been at least 60 - and he was wearing a Flat cap!

If I hadn't had a passenger with me to witness it I wouldn't have beleived it myself!

maybe he was from yorksheir 'ferrets and gravy'

The worst, the absolute worst has to be the ones that tell you the name of the car:
L123 TVR on a TVR etc etc etc, i mean, these pratts go pay good money for serious cars, then pay another few hundred quid to put the name on the back, which is on the fookin boot anyway!!!!

Another one that gets me is the companys who pay to have a load of vehicles on private plates, say like: Charlie Smith Decorators, and the reg's all read CSD or something, despite the van being a mobile advertisement anyway.

FFS.

nah lenny, the worst ones are those that they have to change the shape of the letter or put a bolt in a certain place so that if you squint from 200yds on a foggy day it bares a slight resemblance to ther name ;)

just seen that british oxygen company lorry coming down the east lancs rd from the worsley depot.
BOC 1.
that must be worth a few beer vouchers?

i think someone needs to start a poll so we can let the people decide on how sad they really are ;)

The saddest plate I ever saw was on the Cavalier belonging to a mates neighbour. He told me this bloke worked in an office somewhere & the plate was "ADM1N"
