Im sorry im going to have to correct you, THE WAVE is GERMAN !!!! It was Ferdinand Porsche who started it and ever since then ANYTHING with the VW badge ( Porsches and Audis incl) has been a object to wave at, Same rules apply thou, apart from dubbers will follow another dubber for no reason than just to admire more often than not end up going in totally the wrong direction.

Got to ask thou. Any one waved when their a passanger in another car and or in another car ?????:eek::eek::eek:

There are loads of "Waves"
Motor Bike, VW camper and Beetle's etc. however.
Seeing as this is a Landrover forum we is talking about "The Landrover Wave"

Hope that clears that up :D :D

OK. I've been watching this fred for some time, researching the hows, and whens of the wave. As far as I can tell my procedure and application is correct. BUT not one miserable bugger round my way reciprocates, D1s, D2s, fenders, gaylanders, series or Rangies, none of them.
I've had plenty of strange looks, but not one wave.
Do I need to put flyers underneath wipers pointing them to LZ, and this fred, or are they all lost causes?
Is it me?

They is either lost causes or your not driving your Landy at the time ;) :D

I wave all the time but because I have a standard disco2 nobody ever waves back, :frusty: Untill yesterday, when I had car trailer with a series3 109 saffari on the back, :D Then just about everyone waved back, I would like to continue getting waves, so does this mean I have tow the series3 with all the time  my fuel bill will be huge!!

This gettin to be a problem and why I started this fred.

Standard Disco's, Rangies, Freelander and even New Defender drivers seem to be struggling with the concept that they are part of very special club.

I have heard that other marques have such an intollerant view of newer models e.g. VW beetle. That older beetle drivers will actually initially give them the thumbs up and as soon as it's reciprocated give them the thumbs down :(
Personally I'd hate to think gentle Landrovering folk would do that.

That is really lame if that is the case :(

Sometimes this waving is a complex business and you need help executing it. I always wave at other Defenders and normally get a reply. However whilst out the other day, my wife said to me that another Defender driver waved at me and i ignored him, i didn't even notice the defender let alone the wave! "Don't worry" she said "i waved for you"

I had to drive into London yesterday in my 110 sw, and although I waved at every one of them, not one of the drivers sat behind the wheel of their Range Rover Sports, with their obligatory 30% profile tyres, waved back. Perhaps I've got the wave wrong?

Tazz

Get your hand as though you are holding onto something round then wave it side to side.

I get a lot of children waving and pointing at my Defender. Had one kid point and shout "Wow look at that 4x4!" today at mcdonalds :D

iv been driving the 110 as my daily for about a week now and im doing my bit for the landy wave and getting prity good results evrey seris and defender iv waved at has waved back and a good number of disco and rr as well the odd strange looks from shiny rr and d3/4 drivers but all in all it seams scarborough is a landy wave frendly zone

always find that full chuck norris right thumb up with a nod works wonders and gives a better exposure time to allow a return gesture due to being seen from the windscreen and drivers side window ,also it gives you time to quickly revert to the middle finger salute if required.this method also does not require an open window so no chance of an embarrassing injury thus averting feelling like a dick .

Had roof rack on rr other week. nobody waved, then loaded t up with timber and actually got a wave. My first one. Then took rack off as was doing my head in. My misses says its sad waving. Got more waves when I had my Jeep Cherokee. P38 dont get a response

I would like to take the opportunity to hereby apologise to all Foward control owners for neglecting to mention that they should receive waves too.

I would also like to thank the owner of the Foward control that waved so cheerily to me last Friday up by Merry Hill and although it is highly unlikely that you/he will actually read this at least at last Forward controls have now been added.

Rapidly coming to the conclusion that most Disco owners, a few exceptions of course, are miserable ignorant bastids.

As am I.
