Few wave-rules of mine:
1)If you wave to pig-shed-ninety, the driver will look at you like you were from Vega...
2)If you wave to make-up-blonde-driven factory disco/range - you're from Vega for sure
3)3rd/4th generation discos/ranges never notice your existence as they from Vega usually, where you're not... so waving is pointless... ...however...
4)All series wave
5)Most defs wave
6)All roof-rackers, winch-bearers, spot-lighters, HDbumperers and snorkelers wave for sure - so never hesitate.
7)Always wave back, even to Vegans. Just watch out for waving cops. They wave with purpose.
8)Never wave back to children - you may end up in Vega for real.
:D

No one waves at my freelander :(

I feel left out. Will a custom front mounted winch change this?

yer, bound to get waved at with that

Don't forget the "series with a knackered steering box" wave where only the right index finger is extended 'cos taking one hand off the wheel whilst travelling in a straight line at speed is not recommended.

ohhh i got a beep as well as a wave from a kitted up disco today:D and then 10 seconds later nearly crashed trying to wave at another series3 on the roundabout:eek::D

Only a couple Landys in the Bahamas.
Can I wave to any others?
Lots of Pajeros, Teracans and Wranglers on the island, dont wanna wave to them.

Perhaps I can wave to the Tourist women on the rental scooters?

I've had the wave from other defenders only so far.

Also some folk in commercial work defenders (who probably don't own them) don't tend to wave. Or at least I've yet to get a wave from the white-van defenders :(
In the rural zones it's more common though. Sometimes it's not the 'wave' but The Flash! :D

I only started getting waved at in my white 110 after I painted the chequerplate black. I do wave at other landy drivers though.

I noticed other landy's waving at me or flashing, so I've been returning the favour. I can't help the feeling that I've unknowingly joined a cult though...

I always wave at series and defenders :) , but theres a few defender owners around here that are not true landy lovers are they just stare straight ahead or look at you like " who you waving at ... " .
like the other poster said - i never wave at discos , RRs and gaylanders also farmers ( unless they wave first lol ).

I do wave at other landy drivers though.

Does that include freelanders?..I would wave/salute other landy drivers, but I get the feeling they hate or try not to notice "gaylanders".

For the next week I will wave to other landrover drivers, just to see if any salute back.

First time out Sunday and I was flashed and waved at by a rangie going the opposite way on the M40. I thought he was telling me something had fell off :)

Apologies I didnt know about the wave and I did manage to give a feeble wave once I realised.

Reaserching wave etiquette, i did a search (ffs!) and low.......:D

However, from my days driving an old V dub camper, I feel the wave is largely a kind of shared bond, between fellow owners, who know the joys and yes heataches too, of keeping such a vehicle on the road.

Therefore, should one wave at people in new landys? Never taken off road and certainly never been serviced or repaired by the current driver.

I think you need to earn your wave through graft and dedication. Blood blisters, cut noggins and engine oil on your favorite party shirt. Late for work, driving in the dark without lights and definately a non working rear wiper at the very least. Oh, and one or two wet patches about the person following a short drive in the rain. You can't just go and buy the right to a wave with a spare 20k.

Perhaps new vehicle owners (and I'm only realy referring to Defers here.), can get a sort of trainee, stick with it lad, you can make it, kind of intro half wave:p
