As the idea is to get denser air into the engine, for short boosts of power the answer seems simple to me. Inject oxygen. You can fit a small industrial gas oxygen bottle somewhere. There's lots of room under my Discovery for small gas cylinders, the type used for oxy welding.
Note: it might be illegal to fit such a pressurised vessel, depending on where you live. But it seems to me that the risks associated with a small oxygen vessel are no greater than that of a camping vehicle with multiple 9kg LPG vessels on board with no special impact protection (and there are millions of these vehicles across the globe)?
