This comes up with great regularity.
Because they all leak
1) It may actually be the windscreen
2) Or the aircon, if you can't see it actually coming through the roof
3) Vaseline on the seal often helps (works on mine)
4) Discovery Sunroof Guide

Well either you take it back and tell them it's "not fit for purpose" and you want your money back (you might have to involve Citizens Advice or your local Trading Standards) OR you accept that they all do it and that you will need to do the repairs as advised above. I have to say that since I vaselined it mine ain't bad, but there are still occasional drips. I wish I had bought one without sunroofs. But then the alpine lights leak as well and so did the screen till I had it changed...

Bite the bullet and drop your headlining - it's really not hard and then you can look while someone hoses it down, or drive around for a week or two like that. Mine started leaking at 78,000, but someone had obviously had a go at fixing it before.

thanks for posting back pastmaster and timo i know the law and that they would have to take the jeep back after all this is their third attempt at fixing it in 6 weeks also they did say they had the complete headlining out and could not find the leak if it was not for the fact i love the car this would have been my 6th disco in approx 10 years again thanks

I've had fun and games with both my sunroofs. Firstly check out the integrity of the goo that sticks the plastic corners to the metal tray jobbie (that runs around the inside of the roof). These plastic corners have a plastic metal spout moulded into the corner sections. The drain tubes are then pushed onto these spouts. Sometimes the 'spout' bit breaks off the plastic corner section - in which case you have to epoxy a short length of metal tube as a substitute. Otherwise the goo as mentioned above has come away from the metal tray and water leaks through. Don't mess with trying to mastic it in situ - take the whole tray out remove all old goo and epoxy the plastic corners back in.
The other think you can ask yourself is that this 'tray' is a second line of defence - why is water getting this far? I've just replaced the gasket that presses under the glass lid when it shuts. With time the rubber probably relaxes, so lets water into the tray. The seal was about £18 from Famous Four as I recall - 5 min job to fix - wish I'd done it ages ago. The other possibility is the water is leaking between the metal of the roof and the upper plastic bit - again don't half do it - take the whole thing apart, clean it - DRY IT and bed it in some nice conventional mastic - Seelastik in my day but probably can't get that now - beware the water based stuff!
As an aside I did notice water dripping out the bottom of the motor before I did the seal - I took it apart and wondered how it still worked, it was full of very rusty water. You do NOT want to buy a new one of these - clean it - dry it in the airing cupboard and reassemble (good luck getting the setting for the mictroswitch cut out right - its a bitch). Better bet is stop the water getting this far in the first place!!
Theres a great thread on here somewhere about removing a Disco II roof lining - sounds scary but not so bad once you start it.

Just done mine, had 3 attempts previously to fix it, but did the whole job yesterday. Stripped the whole headlining out, removed the trays and the glass, epoxyed new pipes into the trays for the drains, used flashband to ensure the seal of the box to the tray, checked the drain pipes were clear, coated the rubber glass seal with vaseline, mastic round the plastic surround and refitted. Then had the hose on the roof for 20 mins to check for leaks, all ok, so refitted head lining. All in all about 6 hours work, but its cured it so far.

I found water leaks at the button of my Dash board on the Passenger side !! My Disco 04 is on 40000KM and Is causing more damage on my automatic sunroof !!

What would be the case ? Air-con ?
Don't see any water mark on the roof top because I have just got it done after falling off one day !!

I do see small water drops running our the Dash board at the button ...
What should i do to fix it ?

Aircon hose. It's been covered many times. Use the search facility to track it down.

hi just to let you know i have had a lot of trouble with leaking sunroofs since getting my td5 2 years ago. have tried vaseline on the seals and that failed, had some info from another forum which advised to seal around the exterior trim of the sunroofs. anyway what i did was got some of the silver ductape and taped around the rear sunroof trim and low and behold no water in the car since, tape now been in place for 5 weeks and we have had some heavy downpours. so now i am going to seal around the trim with everbuild puraflex k11 polyurathane mastic in black, available from tool-net - Power Tools :: Hand Tools :: & much more! for £4.65 inc of vat
hope this helps
