i have a 2006 model freelander and it seems to be always wet where jack is kept in locker in boot.is it just a poor seal on rear window rest of boot is dry so it must be running in from somewhere any ideas? would a hosepipe or jetwash force water through or up over the window glass. thanks paul.

Very common problem. It is normally the boot door seal that causes leaking. However there is also a panel fit problem, where the boot cubby pressing fits to the cutout in the boot floor. Often there's a gap between the 2 panels, allowing water thrown from the rear wheels to enter the cubby.

I also have a 2006 TD4 and have the same problem. Mine doesn't get soaking, it gets very damp. I cannot be 100% sure but I think in my case it is condensation rather than a leak.
If I leave the lid open, it is much drier.

could it be stripped and sealed from inside or can you see from underneath to seal it , would it have a drain hole or grommet in anyway or not

Tried to prevent this problem on a F1 I once owned, gave up in the end and drilled a hole to let it leak out.

its a strange one because the rest of the hatch is always dry yet in the cubby hole you can press the carpet and its soaked is your back carpet dry aswell and just underneath in cubby damp

Remove the boot carpet for drying in a garage or shed.
You can then get a good look at the cubby to floor joint. If it's got a gap between the two panels, there's the problem. It can be sealed from both sides with thick spray on underseal or seam sealant. Once dry, refit the carpet.

с внешней стороны над задним стеклом, под пластик - руководство металла в задней части 5 отверстий в них вставлены пластиковые "sarmati" винты , которые держат этот ypravlaushiy, пластик sarmati был большой люфт , и там была вода, то под обшивкой, а затем текло влево - вправо, рядом на прилавках и в ковер.
кресты отмечены места прикрепления подкладки
я presilicon поставил все пластиковые "sarmati" и собрал все обратно

on the outside above the rear glass, a plastic - metal guide in the back of the 5 holes in them inserted plastic "sarmati" screws that hold the ypravlaushiy, plastic sarmati was a big play, and there was water, then under the skin and then flowed to the left - right next to the shelves and into the carpet.

I put all the plastic presilicon "sarmati" and brought it all back

I had the same problem in my freelander 04 plate, I removed the carpets and dried off the panel to cubby hole join and sealed with silicone and left to dry . now no water in cubby hole.

I had the chap that fixed my headlining take a look at mine. He said that all the drain holes were clear. I left my load cover closed overnight and in the morning there was a puddle of water on it.

That's the classic rear door seal leaking.

You can also get road spray and splash from puddles getting in at the corners of the car through holes put there for tow bar electrics. They should be blocked by grommets but the grommets fall out after a few years.
Lie down with your head under the rear bumper and look up at the corner to check if the grommets are still there.

Is it as simple as taking off the seal, a bead of silicone inside the full length, and reffitting?
If so, is there a particular silicone I should use?
