got a 1994 discovery 1 300tdi, now shes going into the garage tomorrow as the boot floor is shafted so i expected the water there but where is it comming from, the window seals? (i dont have sunroofs) then i thought id check both the foot wells, to find they are dripping in water, was like the niagra falls when i squeezed it :( hasnt caused any terminal rust..... yet! so where could the water be comming in from, my windscreen is leaking abit in the top left so im guessing the whole seal is perished but is there other ways in?
Cheers Steve

Any rust holes in the front inner wheel arches, behind the plastic liner? I have seen plenty with holes there or even the floor pan, could be the windscreen, I have heard of the alpine lights letting water in through the seals and it then runs along channels inside the car, tbh its gonna be trial and error, wish you the best of luck and please let us know when you find out

Short answer is everywhere! It took me two years to track down and eliminate the leaks in my 95 V8. Some pointers to start you on the search:
Front inner wings rear vertical edge, bottom of the A pillars, holes in the footwells, door seals, front door plastic membranes, rear quarter glass rubber seals, vertical seams on the rear side panel to rear corner panel, sunroof frame to roof, windscreen to body.

Best advice that I can give is to strip the interior carpets and the rear side panels out and then water test every seam and surface to see where the water comes in. The most difficult task for me was tracking down the leaks on the front inner side panels where the electrics are sited. The majority of this was caused by a couple of small holes in the rear seams of the inner wings. You can see them in the attached pictures.

i know my inner wings are knackered ill have to check them properly next weekend, i have a hole in the passenger a post and drivers b post, a drainage hole looks like it been made on the drivers a post, both foot wells have a hole about the size of two pound piece in them but dunno if they are factory or if someone has drilled them in, rear alpine windows are knackered loads of rust round them and sholes whioch have been attempted to be sealed by silicone, all rubbers are perished on all the windows some look like they have been siliconed back up

Where the arches meet the side panels is where mine has gone and lets water in.check there mate.and the bulk head you may have the smallest pin hole

Alpine seals gone mate, my boot floor rotted from inside because of this.
Going to tackle wet foot well tomorrow night. Will let you know if it fixes the problem. Sikaflex seems the stuff to sort this (or any butyl or pu sealant).

Yeah let us know ron, my alpines are shagged roof needs some welding work but cant afford atm :-/

Well I took the wing off, took 15 mins. I found the sealant was gone and a few small holes so have whacked a load of new sealant in which should sort it. Whacked some hammerite on inner wing face.
Be careful, my inner wing looked fine to me but when I pulled the outer skin off, the plastic liner tore massive holes in the inner. Appears it was made of weetabix covered in underseal :( I would have taken photos but I was too ****ed off to be honest! More welding required for mot it never ends.
I am honestly considering scrapping mine but I dunno. Feels like your chasing your tail sometimes!

all of the above - also check the seal of the roof bars (if you've got 'em) - mine were leaking through there, down the A and B posts

Garage has rung as they were repairing the a pillar, they said they found my leak which is the rear of the front wing which is knackered :-/ woop will try post a picture later

As with mine. I cut sound deadening and carpet out just now, absolutely sopping. Make sure you do that and treat any rust under there with some fertan or similar. Mine was surprisingly rust free in the footwell.
