the little shims for the door catches arrived today. Couldnt adjust the doors suitably without them to shut properly.

Finally got the door lines to fit properly but the bottom of the door has a big gap. What's the way to sort this? Spacer on the bottom hinge?

Is the gearstick shaft cast into the bigger swaged bit with rubber? I want to replace it with something fancy

Well first of the outer 2nd row seats is in. I was going to fit the other side but its the wrong colour and as its a complete swine to fit them in, im waiting for the postman to bring me the correct colour seat instead :)

Its as toit as a toiger to get them in, but do-able!

Next job - replace the rear axle for a salisbury one with discs, QT cranked trailing arms and a new A frame (with bush).

Ive had to order a few new nuts and bolts so just waiting on them.I just know ill end up cutting some of the old ones off so might as well replace all for new. Might finally have some decent brakes on the 110 after this!

Whilst the axles out, im going to repair the rear crossmember, fit the long range fuel tank and mudguards on the rear.

Plenty of big jobs!

Ive bought a set of 6 tonne axle stands that are extra tall so i can have lots more room to work on it.

In the workshop - new tig welder set up is going to be used to repair the old csw doors. Got to keep busy when its a rainy day and cant do much on the 110 outside.

Its already got new springs and big bore shocks all round.

But i want to change to air suspension. Will be developing a kit for it. Ive got an idea in mind on how to sort it. Just sorting out some other bits n bobs for my business at the minute that are easy to get on the market and get capital flowing.

I want to get the csw back on the road asap as well, so the suspension can wait. Its way more comfy than the soft top anyhoo.

Storage drawer is sorted and will be installed next week. I cheated and bought an MSS one for the time being until i can find a good laser cutting supplier.

Roof tents going to come off in the next few weeks and go ontop of the sankey. And a shiney aluminium roofracks going on :)

Cool.

I like the idea of air suspension too, esp to be able to lower it to get in and out and for on the motorway. I would like one of those kits you see on US TV shows.

I'm commuting in my 90 at the moment as the clutch has gone in Sarahs FL, so I'm noticing more stuff that needs sorting. The draws are great though, it's loads quieter with them in.

Are you doing anything else with the sankey?

Ah thats a bummer about the clutch. you gonna sort it yourself?

Yeah im ripping out the internal wall, insulating it and putting the batteries and stuff in the central bit between the wheel arches. Will put a drawer in there for storage of stuff. Also a small water tank etc.
Fitting windows and a venting etc and making it into a sort of micro camper for the kids. Then we have the roof tent.

Ive already removed the daft cooking plate. It weighed 60kg!!!!!! Fecking thing.

I "think" it will work?

The guy who built it didnt seem to have thought about it very much, it has such huge wastes of space in it.
I need to reweld various bits of the frame too as its made up of scrap and not been welded at all in some areas. Just some aluminium rivits holding it together.

Nah, I think it is just the slave cylinder leaking, but it is in the bell housing and I just don't have the enthusiasm to take the gearbox out!

So you are making it into a micro camper the kids can go in? I bet they would love that!

If I made one I would like to make some kind of BBQ/wood fired hot plate kind of thing that is built in. Also maybe a fuel tank with a built in pump.

Got any pics of it? I'm struggling to picture it

Ah yeah i know what you mean, i have no interest in dicking about with gearboxs and the like. Is it a td4 then?

I dont much fancy lighting a fire attached to my vehicle :p

ill get some pics for you. dont have any on me.

I have an eberspacher that im fitting in my 110. Ill see how i get on with that and if i like it i will put one in the trailer too, rigged up to the roof tent also.

replaced the steering column uj's last night.

There was a bit of play in it and it was showing up with slightly crappy steering. When off, i found it to be badly seized too. Steerings lighter and more accurate now. Well worth the £6 i paid for the uj!

Ha, if it was well done so it folded out I wouldn't mind the fire! Just think how cool it would be...

Yeah, a TD4. Is booked in at DLS for Tuesday so I hope it is just the master cylinder. To be honest it is doing the defender good giving it a few proper runs, though still need to fix the steering. Adjusting the backlash on the steering box made it a bit better, but not loads, so I think I am going to have to get the steering box reconned. I have some lucas stuff to go in, but I don't know how it can fix worn gears unless it just gunges everything up.

I put some of that lucas stuff in the rexton, it sorted alot of problems but none of which were backlash related.

Ah your sure its not the steering drop arm or something?
