if its a registered business and the vehicle attracts VAT to be paid - then yes, same as any commercial auction

Quite simple: is it kosher?

If it's a commercial and vat was claimed back by previous owner vat has to be added. if its a "car" vat is claimed/added when the vehicle is company owned and not used for any private use at all. ie, left at company premises and keys left in locked cabinet.
If your thinking of buying one with plus vat check the seller is vat registered.

No its not. Check Ebay terms and conditions and they clearly state that any Final Price must Include VAT.
If it is a Classified Ad then that is different.

I have checked this myself a few times as ive looked at a few that have listed that VAT will be added on top.
I just avoid them as its usually muppets who dont know the rules and when you mention it they dont reply.

Check out the A-Z help on Ebay.

The reason ebay say the final price must include vat is so they can charge their commision on the whole amount. They are as big a bunch of robbers as HM govt.

I think you'll find that they just run a hugely successful business. If you don't like the fees bugger off and use something else... oh right.... there isn't anything.... maybe that's because eBay managed to build a household name for themselves and worked hard to build an excellent business model.

All credit to them really.

Do you complain about Tescos adding a profit margin onto the wholesale price that they pay before selling it on to you too?

this is kinda what i was getting at. Also would the vehicle have to be owned by the vat registered company?
