Hi all i now this is a repeated subject but im confused.

There are so many different views on the subject but if i run my 200tdi on 80% new vegetable oil and 20% petrol would this be ok in the cold weather?

And i tried searching but there are to many subjects on it and to many opinions

No, it is not a good idea to run a diesel on petrol:D

I use 50/50 and get no problems, never tried 80/20 though

Yesterday i mixed 60% oil 40% diesel and it seems to run ok. Its a little sluggish when you first start the engine but when its warm it ok.

I would never use more than 10% petrol in any mix.

This time of year using a mix of 60veg 30derv 10 petrol would be fine. Opinions vary wildly on this subject though so you need to try different mixes and see what works best for you

and keep a spare fuel filter in the car at all times ;)

My 300tdi wouldn't start this morning:eek:

Got about 30% diesel and 70% rapeseed oil / bio diesel mix.

Had to pour boiling water on pump and injectors before she would fire.

Its never been as good as the 200 for starting but this morning nothing, it was just kicking now and again but wasn't going to start.

I'm going to put 30 quids worth of diesel and five ltres of petrol in tonight.:)

I always mix my veg / petrol together in containers before putting them in the tank. It seems to work better doing it this way.

Im going to to pick up a new filter tomorrow as i need to pick up new wheel bearings and i think i just need to find the right mix that my vehicle likes as there are so many different opinions.

Does any one now were i can get bio from near south wales? As i cant find any where thay sells it

Started ok this morning no problem, it was a lot wormer though, the petrol I put in seems to have worked though as she starts better after being stood all day,
So I'm going to use 10% petrol in my bio and see how it goes:)

Well I'm on bio oil now with 5% petrol in case it goes cold.

The 300tdi starts better than it used to and seems to be smoother and more go, It'll run round at a quarter throttle all day.

My brother followed me home tonight in the dark and he says there was no smoke whatsoever not even when I floored it.
I never actually floored it so it must be going well:)

All in all I think the motor is much better on the bio fuel, we'll see how it is when the frost returns:)

Hi nice to here. In running new veg oil mixed 30% derv and 70% oil the engine sounds a lot quieter and smoother but does like a little bit of glow plugs when it cold but i starts instant.

Plus theres a lovely smell when i stop and well from behind as a mate was following me said politely

Hi Guy's,

Where do you get your veg oil from ?

I got a new Defender 110 and living in Thailand. Have been thinking on going green for years now.

Any feedback will be really appreciated.

Kinds,

Nino.

Transit engine and not a older design in yours!

You are only using such a small amount that its only thinning the oil slightly in the cold as the oil thickens
