You would have thought that after 10 years he would have known a bit more about how it is "supposed to work". If he actually knew how it was "supposed to work", then he could have argued that it didn't actually work like that OR the advertising material misrepresented that. However, as his knowledge is limited, he can do neither.

he really needs to take the advise from landy forums , in being told the unbiased truth before he decided to take jlr on , also to accuse the police of lying

it does sound out there , but still each to there own

wonder what his family thought of all this, how much has he lost in those 10x years

I feel genuinely sorry for the guy. He is obviously in need of psychiatric help but I don't think he's stupid. In the videos he deliberately keeps the engine rpm low to avoid the VCU locking up, thus proving his point. But only to Joe blogs public who know nothing about VCUs. Then he shows a 4wd car being jacked up to show what drive line wind up is. He knows full well the Freelander is designed to avoid this (until you've done around 100k miles that is) but claims its proof the VCU doesn't work. As far as I can see he's told as many lies as LRJ have over this.

Exactly Ali. When he had the front of the FL on a trolley, keeping the wheels clear of the ground. He doesn't give it any gas at all, for most of the test. However at one point he does give it a bit more and it starts to move. That's the way the VCU works. More Rpm in, more torque out. If he stopped messing about at idle and gave is some beans, the VCU will transfer all the torque necessary.
Besides why does he want axle wind up? Surely he must have heard of IRDs failing. So why would he want to increase the chance of that?
You have to feel for this guy, as he's clearly deluded and completely unaware of how the VCU works.

Did you not see his post saying that it is an internet myth that IRDs fail because VCUs go stiff? I found some of his stuff quite amusing in its simple naivety, but that left me flabbergasted!

If he wants his VCU locked up all the time it would be easy to achieve with 30 seconds of welding.
Not sure how long the IRD would last tho. :p

I saw it. It's completely beyond belief the rubbish this guy is spouting. No on wonder the court went with LR. It doesn't take more than a few minutes research to find what this guy is spouting is rubbish. This chap is well and truly living in lala land.

Were it not for the court records, I would have called this whole thing an elaborate wind up, but the guy did take this to court. And lost £80k.

He can't and won't accept that he is wrong and is trying to get others to take up his deluded cause. And then there's that neo-Nazi stuff which goes so far beyond belief that I'm not surprised that the Chef Constable wanted a mental health report!

Time to stop feeding the troll I think.

i think if he answered questions in detail he would have used the forum and its expertise far better

yet he answered with his video

i couldn't agree more regarding the neo stuff, i felt was right on the edge of being banned

could be a record of how a simple vcu went into so many threads ,

is good to stand up to large companies but needed to do more forward planning before going to court

all that money, 80 grand makes u want to cry

still wish him the best in his endeavour and that he may one day put it to rest and move on with his life

These events took place - but there's a good chance there's some identity theft going on by someone. Probably a LZ member that enjoys these rolling arguments.

just started a thread in ag for us freelanders having the record for the longest thread

think i might get linched , lol

beats a boring sunday

I think the way he is ranting and rambling in his responses would suggest he's the same guy.
At one stage I thought he may have had a point re the perjury thing but by then I was so disgusted with him I had no interest in checking.
Unless I read the whole thing wrong (quite possible due to rampant apathy) his argument is the Freelander doesn't exhibit transmission wind up when JLR claim it does. He then goes on to produce videos proving this but fails to mention that he is extremely careful to avoid revving the engine as doing so would cause the wind up he claims is missing.
Then a JLR expert drives around in circles on grass slowly and somewhere in his report he says something which our friend considers incorrect/missleading therefore perjury.
To be honest by this point I hadn't had enough alcohol in my system to cope with the growing apathy so lost interest completely but I think I got the gist of it.
Does all that sound about correct?

i think you've about covered it

but maybe if he had said, this is the fault i have with my hippo, is that suppose to do that

how do i fix it, etc , not spend 80 k on some half hearted attempt in taking one of the largest companies to court

if he wasn't happy most of us would take it back and demand a refund and buy something else

what did he want it for, what wouldn't it do, answers i suspect we will never get , only to be referred back to his video

He just claimed it wasn't suitable for what he wanted to do but since it was reported he got stuck up a Scottish mountain it sounds like he wanted to use it for extreme off roading.
Kinda stupid of him to buy a Freelander then.
Actually rethinking it, I suspect he didn't really need it for anything of the kind. He had a one off issue, got stuck because of his bad driving and started the ball rolling and is to stupid to stop.

didn't see that bit about the scottish mountain

even clarkson took a disco and got stuck so know a hippo wouldn't stand a chance , lol

makes u want to cry , 80k and counting , all that money

could have bought a disco and had it highly modified for that , been a very happy camper touring around europe and beyond , without a care in the world

I can't see his point at all. Especially about the axle windup thing.
He is correct in that in normal circumstances, a working VCU doesn't cause proper axle windup. It slips any possible windup to almost nothing.
But I can't see what he is trying to prove, other than he bought the wrong car, and is trying to pin the blame on LR.

quite agree with what ur saying

just a very confusing thread

like most of us who bought a car, if we was unhappy, would take it back or get a refund

maybe going to trading standards , but not to the extent of taking on jlr

each to there own, but makes me want to cry with the 80k , is almost criminal

to what end , just think what type of landy and mods 80 k would have bought u

a fully kitted out disco 4 with all the mods u desire with change for an expedition

I think he's claiming the JLR expert said did did show windup but he had to rev the engine to achieve it. Since that is how it's designed to work I'm not sure what his gripe is.

Exactly.

I've stopped posting on there as it occurred to me that posts made by members on here, could end up being used in court.
