Hi there,
I ve got a series 2a with a 3.5 V8 in it, it has been stood for about 18 months and i have now got it back on the road, when starting it, it starts up and then immediately stops again as though you are turning the key straight back off again, it will do this 2 or 3 time then it will fire up and run ok, sometimes when you pull up at a junction say, it will cut out aswell, it didn't do this before it was stood so just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what maybe causing it, its as though its not getting fuel through straight away maybe?????? thanks in advance, Neil.

I had this problem with a 110 I owned and it was the ignition lock. It was goosed and would switch off when it felt like it. try wriggling the key and if it cuts out that's your problem.

If its not the key then it could be a dodgy coil connection, broken wire in the ignition circuit somewhere, similar symptoms. whats the v8 out of, does it have one of those bump cut out things (forgot the proper name).

I would say its less likely to be fuel, are you running standard carbs?

My money's on a dodgy ignition switch too....................though it pains me to agree wiv Pikey! ;)

Its the dodgy ignition key, tried it today and if you give it a wiggle it starts ok, so a new ignition barrel it is.:)
Thanks for the advice everyone, coz if i'm honest it wouldn't of been my first port of call for looking at.:(

Really.... there are probably some girls (ish) in the nearest city to here that could help you out...probably be easiest if you dressed like a sailor
